Thought these would make some cool Eagle builds. first the 66-67 Eagle variants- Bobby Unser, 1970 Donnie Allison, 1970 1968 Variant, Lee Roy Yarbough, 1969 Sam Sessions drove this 1970 Eagle.

The nose on the #8 McClusky car reminds me of the nose Dan gave us from a 1968 Eagle Indy test car, it was completely sandblasted just like this, apparently they didnt do much to prep the track for testing back then. Dan had told me there was a lot of sand and dirt on the track and they always had to repaint the nose after testing. During this conversation he was waxing a Eagle in the AAR compound and I asked "Why Bother" he told me "On the straights at Indy a well waxed car was good for a few extra MPH!" My sister has that nose in the rafters of her garage and so far I have yet to convince her to give it up!!! Chris

The Bobby Unser Bardahal Eagle was not used at Indy in 1969 he ran the 4wd Lola, the eagle was used on some of the 1 mile ovals and road courses The Eagle with the Turbo Offy was used at Phoenix, Hanford, Won Langhorne, Trenton, Milwaukee 200,and Dover On the road courses they use a stock block Chevy except for Kent5 and Riverside they used a 4cam ford non turbo.
The 1968 G.C. Murphy arrived at Indy with a 4 cam Ford but the team changed to a Turbo Offy during the month of May. This car has just went thru a complete restoration. The #59 Hoffman Eagle driven By Larry "Boom Boom" Cannon was Bobby Unser's 1970 car.

Thanks for your response Chris. I am familiar with the Weslake Plymouth. The sales description in the attachment I provided describes that the engine has w2 heads which are not to my knowledge Weslake heads. The intake trumpets are not spaced wide enough apart to be the Weslake Plymouth? The cam covers are also not the same and at a different angle? The provided vehicle history does not mention the Weslake engine? So my question was more about references that support the fact that the Weslake engine was used in this car? I am more than willing to concede if it was, but I have never found information that would suggest that it was?
There was also a Black prepared Plymouth, also used in Indy practice in the Super wedge in 1969 wihich had more conventional heads. I would suggest that based on the information mentioned above that the engine in "this" car is more likely based on the conventional yet tweaked L388 engine, assuming that the original engine is still in the car pictured. It does say something about the car being returned without its Chrysler engine after the Questor GP? So, it may even have been restored with neither of the Black period engines which is why it doesn't appear to have the distinctive Weslake characteristics.
However if there is other information, I am keen to learn.
