After they took the large dihedral(sp?) rear wing off these cars, they created a much smaller box scope for the rear radiator. Was there one on each side of the car or only one the left? I can see it in the qualification photo on the left but I can't find any pictures of the right side. I think the box or boxes were silver at qualifying and yellow/body color on race day. Help please. Jim

Jim, Yes, each side had the smaller silver boxes for qualifying. In the race the smaller box was still on the right side but a larger one on the left. You are correct that both were painted yellow on race day. If you need more photos, I have over 200 photos of all three 72 Parnelli's. Mario, Al, & Joe

Thanks so much, Stu. These pictures really help. Since I had to make one of the boxes I think I will repaint them silver and go with the qualifying day set-up. Your straight on picture on the race day grid raises another question. Are the stripes around the yellow blue or black? They look blue in your picture and I have used black 1/64" tape so another rework may be in order. This kind of help is what makes this site so great. Thanks again for sharing. Jim

They are blue Jim. Sorry for the extra work you have to do but hopefully it won't be to bad a swap.

The resin kit I have was made by Bill Jorgensen several years ago (probably 15+). I think we all have "to build" lists and I just got around to it. My kit consisted of the body, front and rear wings, cockpit cover, wheels and tires, one radiator box, and upper "A" arms for the front. It is missing the windshield. I have used the entire rear end (engine, suspension, etc.) from a period Eagle. It takes considerable modifying; for example, the rear brakes are inboard. I finally found a set of Bill's instructions that I had misplaced over the years so that helped. Mario's car was on display this year at the IMS Museum so I got some good pictures. Too bad I took them before starting the model as I missed some important details. Some members of this forum might know what happened to Bill's molds. I have not seen this kit for sale at shows or ebay so maybe someone can help. Thanks for asking. Jim Jim
