Hope everyone's holiday season is going well! Just wanted to share some of my latest work. It's been pretty cold in Ohio lately which has limited my ability to paint but I've been working on a 2014 Josef Newgarden car. I met Josef a few weeks ago at a Meet and Greet and told him about this project and he seemed very interested so I plan on sending him a few pics if I ever get it finished. I'm not planning on any extensive modifications, just wanted to test myself and see if I could do it. That swoop behind the front wheel is tricky!

I had trouble masking for this car too! Looks like you're off to a good start. Looking forward to seeing it done!

Is the swooped angled or gradual? Stick with it and you'll have a nice replica.

Its hard to tell in the picture but its a gradual swoop. I keep tweaking that area to see if I can get it a little better that what I had before

jaw -- do you need some more reference photos? I know the company that designed this livery, so I can probably get you some renderings of the car, plus likely get you some shots of it while it was being painted / wrapped (not sure what they did for this one).
Let me know and I'll reach out and see what I can do to help.
You're doing great so far. Your flo yellow looks excellent! I never have that nice of a result.

Made some progress with this project this weekend and finally got some paint work done. As with every project, things don't always turn out exactly as planned but I think this is as close as its gonna get. I need to touch up a few of the white areas and finish off the yellow on the mirrors and camera then it'll be time for decals.

I have an idea for you to tighten up those lines without repainting. I have used this trick. Get some pin striping (like for your sweet 1980's truck hehe) in black and cut off the thin portion. Use that to line the rough edges where the paint transitions. It will look quite nice!

Looks good. I dig the fluorescent yellow. Mike has a good idea. I did that with the Helio Verizon GP of Indy ride. Your car is coming along great!

Thanks for the idea Mike! Anyone know where I can get that stuff from?

Micro Scale decals has decal pinstripes sheets in varies thickness and a lot of different colors. You should be able t o pick some up at a good railroad hobby store or online at Micro Scale or check on E-bay. Micro Scale you have to spend at least $20.00 before they ship anything to you. Model is looking good.

Made some more progress today. Got some of the lines cleaned up to a point I felt content with and started laying the decals down. Things were going smoothly until I destroyed one of the Direct Supply logos. After many curse words, I decided it was best to just walk away for the day. Out of curiosity, would anyone with an ALPS printer be willing to help a fellow modeler out? here's a couple of pics of where we are now:

That method of cleaning up with a like colored decals works very well. I used it on my '07 Dario Indy winner after much of the black on the side pods came off with the masking. I made a template for that black area, cut it from an all-black decal sheet, and stuck it on! Blended right in for an invisible repair!

Nice to see a Josef car, the kid is so impressive that it is cool to see his cars in scale.

You made this look very good. The paint job is defiantly a tricky one but you got it looking great!

Very nice. I always like dayglo colors on model IndyCars, they really do give it realistic eye catcher. I am sure Josef would love it, it was a treat to see him win his first race earlier this year.
