Can any body help. I'm looking for reference for Andretti's 65-66 Brawner Hawk (Brabham BT-12), I specifically need shots of the rear end, preferably as it raced in the 65 Indy minus tail bodywork. Any assistance would be very greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys...Chris

Hi Chris, Here are a few for now. I know they are not exactly what you are looking for, but they are something anyway... The first two are from '66 and the second pair from '65. These pictures are from the book "Indy's Wildest Decade" by Gabbard...

A question from the *uneducated one*: What was Mario's '69 winner referred to as? A "Brawner _______?? Evidently not a *Hawk*. (??)
(I am aware that I *should* know this, but........) Mongo
Update: I did see that the '69 car was also a *Brawner HAWK*. To be quite honest, I just didn't follow Mario that much.

The '69 car is a Hawk III Ford (turbo 159 C.I. V8) and Brawner was the crew chief for Mario. This car has some good stories to go with it, too! ;D

Thaks Bill,
Great shots they help a lot.
It's funny when you start studying shots of Indy cars, you find that the confuguration "as raced" can be very different to the publicity shots. AKA The Lotus 34, and now the Brawner Hawk. Any help anybody can give me of a rear end shot with the rear cowl removed will be greatly appreciated, I need to see what the transmission looked like, plus the star wars thingy in the vee between the exhaust pipes, thanks again Bill.

From the IMS photo archives...still haven't found one with the tail uncovered, but at least this is a better look at the Star Wars tank... The rear axle cover looks like a standard Halibrand quick change unit to me... [glow=red,2,300]How many wish we had the contents of that photog's camera (who is snapping pics to the right)?[/glow]

Thanks Bill,
NOW THAT'S A SUPRISE! Did allways run with this cover, or sometimes without? I've never seen this before, I allways assumed it had a duck-tail rear cover, thanks a million.
