Evening all!
Having been a modeller for over 50 years, I am now dipping my toe in the racing car pond!
I recently refurbished a set of six Dinky Toy 1950s racing cars of my childhood and then found my favourite, the Vanwall!
Google searches for spares led me into the world of 1/24 kits and I now have the old Merit 1/24 SMER re-releases of the Maserati and Lago Talbot kits. I was also lucky enough to win a built model of the Vanwall on eBay, for the princely sum of £1.90!
Searches for parts to refurbish this beast have led me to this site and I'm impressed with the depth of knowledge and willingness to share it amongst the membership.
Kind regards to all,
Chris

The only thing that would make this place more fun would be beer. Welcome Chris. BYOB!

Welcome. Was that a 1/24 Vanwall for less than three dollars? I'm very impressed! A Dinky at that price would be incredible!

Yes, it is a 1/24 Merit Vanwall! I tried soaking it and putting it in the freezer last night and it was reasonably simple to take it apart this morning. So, it's now back in its box in components awaiting restoration. My Dinky Vanwalls were both under £10.00, but they were very badly play worn... All they need now are new steering wheels.

Ah...another road racing fan! There are a couple of us that have built the Merit Vanwall. I'm a rear-engined F1 fan, but build the 50's F1s as well. Welcome and always ask for help with what you need. We love to help when we can!! Patrick
