Hey everybody
Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to the nose in the AMT 1974 McLaren kit to make it more accurate?
Thanks

Of course that only covers some things. Even with those changes the nose and cowling will still be wrong and it doesn't really acknowledge that the suspension in the kit is nothing like it was on the real car. I can't help with the nose or cowling, but I do offer parts to do the drivetrain and suspension up correctly. I offer a more accurate Offy and gearbox in resin www.indycals.net/parts/indyparts/resinoffy.htmland using 3d printing I have an assortment of turbo/intake/suspension/bulkhead and wing pieces www.shapeways.com/search?q=1974+McLarenMy resin Offy works with the kit parts, and my 3d parts work with the kit offy/gearbox, so you don't have to commit to using all kit parts or all resin/3d - mix and match as your budget sees fit.

Also should point out - the AMT kit was based on a 1973 McLaren, which was pretty much unlike the 72 or 74-76 version. The kit is best at doing a late 1973 McLaren -post Indy when the wings were reduced to a width of 55" from 63" (they were reduced to 43" for 1974 onward).

With all the great resin and 3d printed parts currently available, it is too bad no one is offering a correct(ed) resin cowling/front wing at the moment.... I really can't remember when I last saw Bill Jorgensen's transkit for sale!
That really is all we need to build a completely accurate 1974 winner....
Does Bill still produces kits or does anyone knows who owns his master for the 1974 M16?

I think Bill mentioned he might be doing some McLaren stuff again soon. He kept those.
