Started on this a few weeks ago. Came apart grudgingly and I repainted all the parts. Planning on making the Dan Gurney car with this one, just got my Indycals today, waiting on some Tamiya paints I ordered.
I used the Indycals 63 Firestone tires and tire decals. Going with Tamiya TS-15 blue and Tamiya Bright White. Right now it is primered white.

Very good!
These kits became way more popular with Michael pursuing the updated kit for this kit.

I am using Calvin's windscreen but only have one of the resin noses and was going to put it on a Jim Clark version, along with another set of the 63 Firestones. I ordered another windscreen as well. A friend gave me this built Lotus so I thought I could restore it and improve the look over the original, built in the early '80's. The tires alone do wonders for the little Lotus.
I also have a Lance Seller's Lotus 38 that I am starting after Christmas. Looking forward to that one.

Calvin's nose is way better than the one in the kit IMO. Your part is on the way, I had a little memory lapse

Thank you very much Craig. I guess having one with the nose job and one without will let me appreciate Calvin's effort better

I got my Tamiya paints in the mail Saturday and I painted the body with the Pure White. It came out good. I'll leave it to cure good for a few says then get the stripe masked off and painted with TS-15 Blue. Nearly ready to put back together.
Was the seat really red in the 29? All the reference I have show a black seat. The red looks good and I know that the Lotus 38 seat was red but not so sure about the 29 and 34.

This is from the '64 car at the IMS museum (from the Parnelli collection). It's appearance has been changed and changed back, but I doubt that they changed the seat. I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of the 29, but I have to think the seat was probably red as well. Scott

Thank you for the Lotus 34 pic Scott. I'll remember that when we get the Lotus 34 conversion kit. I see the 64 car is still wearing those horrible Dunlap tires in the museum.

The seats are so low, I can't find much on the web to help. I'm sure there are a few guys here that know for sure all the details of the 29.

Thanks Jordan. I did find some pics of chassis 29/2, the #91 car that was white with blue stripe and it has a black seat in the pics. They were from some vintage racing event, so the seat could have been recovered after all those years. Lookiing at the pic you posted it almost makes me want to take some piano wire and make a new sway bar.
One of my future projects is the Jim Clark 29 and I have Calvin's full kit for it, the corrected nose/tires/windscreen.

This pic I believe is from Goodwood shows John Surtees driving Gurney's car and the little it shows the seat is Black. I am sure it is a restored car though. Chris

It wasn't black, this looks like it was red: You car see just a bit or red in this photo, ...scrub that I had a closer look at the photo, it's a coloured black and white, the seat is light grey just like the B/W photo above it. IT MIGHT BE RED

Here's a photo of the #92 car I took at the HoF Museum. Again, a restored car...

Thank you all for the pics and information. It is looking like I will make my seat red, since I already had it painted red and there just isn't any pics from 63 that seem to show the seat. I do know that the dash and steering wheel was red. I think the actual car was the one that Bobby Marshman had in 64 at Indy. Later Bobby had the chassis that Clark drove in 63, at least that was what I seem to recall from somewhere. So, in reality none of the original cars are original now, that I know of.
I like the look of the red seat, gives the car some color.

Best I've come across is a couple shots that show a red steering wheel, which would lead me to believe that the dash and seat would 'probably' have also been red as that was normal for Lotus in 1963.

I'm still working on this Lotus. A little delay while I work up courage to mask and paint the blue striping on the body. I'm away until after the end of the year now, so nothing until January. I want the thank everyone for the help on this little Lotus and thanks to Michael for the paint advice and the great decals and tires. I'll get it done, promise

The red interior has always fascinated me. It just seemed almost out of place since other cars were so plain by comparison. I do love the red though, really adds character.
