Hello guys , while waiting on some parts to finish my Unser eagle I decided to play around with some of the resin I scored .
I started by hollowing out the Brawner Hawk 1969 car . I wanted to build it with more detail than just curbside so I spent 3 hours dremeling out the inside of the body. So I could fit a tub in it . I'll be using the base motor from the 68 Eagle and also the tub from that car . here are some early pics because this will be a long build
Here is a quick mock of the car , I have tons of sanding to do to the inside and filling to get it where I want it . I also have to grind out the side tubs so I can make them hollow for the air inlets
thanks guys , any suggestions or comments are welcome
thanks Chuck

Can't wait to see your progress on this one. It's on my bench to finish too (along with about 5 others!)

Man! You're going all out! You picked a car with a lot of stuff all over it...wings radiators, hoses, lines, scoops.....

I always liked that car but it does sort of resemble a HVAC project. Won the race, can't argue with that

That may have also been to help that extra radiator that was installed after qualifing, Jordan. In his book, Clint said that after the run, the engine was running very hot. He wanted to install another rad, but several other teams, most vocal was AJ, said the car could not be changed after the run and before the race. So they added it under the seat, where nobody could see it. Remember "it's not cheating if you don't get caught".

I've been going this way with the 66 winner, not sure I will stay with it but it is a great way to go with this car.

Maybe it was for a rad and I just forgot that detail.
I think the work on opening up the resin pieces was time well spent.

What a nice casting. It should build up very nice. I like grinding...it's unexplainable.

Do you buy your respirator filters by the case?

I find the comment about AJ's objections to changing the car interesting. It seems to me that over the years several cars were changed between qualifying and race day. Among those AJ's 64 winner where they moved the oil tank. Were the rules changed to prohibit changes between qualifying and race day? Sorry to go off on a tangent on this, but I'm intrigued. Back on track, pardon the pun, this build is something special and will be very helpful to me and I'm sure others. Thanks for sharing your work.
