The humble beginnings of another...I just can't stop! Not much to see yet, but already have a nice war wound! Took a flathead screwdriver about 1/4" into side of my pointer finger trying to remove the fuel inlet. This Carlos Munoz car is different from even the TK winning car. Lots of new screws and I have never had so much trouble removing the buckeye before. But, I'm bandaged up and wanted to share. Not much to see yet, but hope to get the whitw body tomorrow, and then start sketching decal layouts so I can paint blue where needed. Plan is to use a semi gloss white base to try and match the white Alps ink. Will mask off blue areas to be covered by white halftone decals...hopefully! ELO worked like a charm to remove Cinsay from the shark fins. Thought this underwing was carbon but the photos were misleading. It isn't. A little bummed, but I will make do. Who makes the best carbon decal for these? I bet Stu knows from that Servia build! I need to do 90% of front wing and would like to do top of underwing. Know it won't be cheap, or easy. Got the wings painted up a while ago and the blue is a dead ringer for the Sherwin Williams paint we used on the real car (Testors Dodge GTS Viper Blue Pearl Laquer System rattle can) and is gorgeous in the sunlight! This is why I really want to attempt the reverse of the halftone dots in white decal. Car just won't sparkle if I have to go with blue decal! Having a blast!

Making some progress! Got the blue painted on the nose and sidepods (still need to do engine cover) which will get covered by the white half-tone dot decals to create the fade effect used on the car. Also got the front wing main plane all wrapped up in carbon fiber decal (took a shot at making my own, and they came out pretty nice). Decal sheet also ready to rock...just need to add the white overlay decals to the sheet and tweak on the blue a bit to get it closer to the GTS Viper Blue Pearl saturation/lightness.

Test fitting a few decals in places I won't have to re-mask. Pretty happy with the color match on the blue. Gotta love when you're doing a car with a white base and you can print your own laser decals

It kicks (expletive deleted). Knowing I can just spray it in a cup, pour into pasche bottle and spray has opened up a huge world of opportunity for me. I use a LOT of common automotive colors and the licensed Dodge, Ford, Chevy, etc. paints from Testors are awesome. I never could use them because I spray paint like a 40 year old virgin with Kate Upton on the bed but with the airbrush it comes out great!

warming up enough (52 today) in Indy that I might just get to spray the last bit of paint on this with a little space heater action in the garage to get it up to above 60 in there. Decals should arrive today or tomorrow. Would love to finish this baby up before Thanksgiving!

Some modest progress today...been lazy and using the cold as an excuse not to repaint the (expletive deleted) job I did on the engine cover. Here is take 2. Also ordered in some florescent yellow vinyl that I've cut into strips to emulate the yellow tape they ran on race day. Will go on the roll hoop and camera after dry time, on the mirrors now. I goofed on the decals and didn't have Gary put a white stroke around PFS and the polar bear is about 10% too big so I need to redo the sheet to fix those issues, so probably no updates until I get that done. It's kind of nice not feeling the pressure to rush and get these done. Before I finished one that I was proud of, I was always in a rush. Now, I can enjoy looking at it in various states of completeness without stressing over when I'm going to finish!

I keep getting more and more excited about this every day! Decided to remove the #21 from the nose to try a different blue. Forgive the decal remnants (haven't worked hard on them yet). Airbox is missing because it's being painted up with its "race day" fluorescent yellow accents. Pretty much all of the decals are in place except the ones that go over the halftones. Having some resizing done on those by Gary and will hope to have them soon! Thanks for looking and for any feedback!
