Got a set of decals from Gary and they look great IMO! At work I have a Roland printer with cutting capabilities, so I got to play around with it today. I'm happy with the first attempt for this 'sponsor blocker'. Lines up perfectly until I get to the front, going to work on that tomorrow.

It depends what you are looking for. Found out yesterday that it can get difficult doing really small cuts. Seeing the updates today inspired me to post one! Getting there on the decals thanks to Gary. Am currently making a new rear wing because I've messed up the other one while dremeling, I've also broke the 'mini' dremel lol. I'm trying to get more realistic with this, adding radiator inlets and hopefully rookie stripes.

I've used a thick polystyrene for these. My big issue has been paint, used a regular primer and even that didn't work with black (came off as a grayish color). Ended up using the testors ink stick. I feel silly asking this question, but how does one pop the tires off the wheels? That's alright sadler, I don't want to put you through any trouble! With this white vinyl, I found that I can spray paint it with no issue so far. So I'm going to run to walmart and get some flo yellow.

looking fantastic tyler!
i always pull the tires off by holding them both really tight and square and just yanking them apart. haven't broken one yet!
some guys say to heat up the lug nut with soldering iron and then loosen it up
soaking in simple green also seems to loosen the little bit of adhesive that is in there, and seems to lubricate as well.

Thanks guys! Debating on what to attempt next. I've been a Casey Mears fan for a long time, so I'm think of doing his short-lived 2001 run with Galles Racing.

Tyler - Nice work but I agree with Mike. Do the tire decals! You can get them from Michael at Indycals and it will be that much nicer. Plus, you will fill in the blank insides of the tires. Again, super job!

Nice job on that one. On the tire decals it is easy to do them with the model all together you do not need to take the tires off again. It would be easier but not necessary. Just get the correct ones from Michael and get some decal set and what I do is cut them out in four sections. 1 cut Indy 500, 2nd cut Firestone, 3rd cut 500 logo, 4th cut Firestone. I use a wet q-tip and than a dry q-tip to help with placement on the tires. For the inside of the tires I put the car on a pad and put it upright so I can access the inside of the tires. So the model is standing on two tires. I also cut them out with a small pair of curved siccors that I bought just to cut curved decals with. I like to cut as close as I can to the lettering which is not easy to do for the white lettering. Other than that the car looks great and keep up the good work.

Just ordered a set from Indycals. Does simple finger nail polish remover take the current text off the tires?

Just ordered a set from Indycals. Does simple finger nail polish remover take the current text off the tires? Yes sir. A little bit on a rag or cotton ball will do the trick, just don't get any on your paint! I also like to soak them in some soapy water afterwards to make sure there is no more residue from the NPR.
