Congrats on the first completion, Scott. It wasn't the easiest kit to start off with so don't be too hard on yourself. Great to see you building and I hope you enjoyed it.

Awesome! Yeah it was a tough one to make your first one. The 1978 Sneva PC6 hardly ever gets built. This was the year he won the championship without winning a single race.....but was later fired by Penske before years end.....what a funny deal? To this day what happen there is still a mystery to me..... Believe it or not this was my 3rd ever Indycar build - I dont have it anymore as it turned into a donor and is currently on prolly 3 other built cars right now. BTW FYI the easiest 1/25 Indycar IMO is the AMT Lola T8800 but the easiest one overall is the 1/20 Tamiya Lola. BTW #2 I wished Tom Sneva was still a color commentator for Indycar broadcast....his corny funny comments were always worth writing down. BTW #3 Watching him qualify at Indy was freaking scary as he was right on the edge! BTW #4 Just watch......starting @ 1:40

To this day what happen there is still a mystery to me..... I've heard several theories on his firing, but I think the biggest factor was that Tom was kind of a pain in the butt. Couple that with a fast. young racer in Mears and the rest is history. The best story I ever heard about this was from an interview Sneva did in a magazine. He said (paraphrasing a bit) "I was frustrated with Penske because I thought they only did things right about 80 percent of the time. After I left, I found out 80 percent was way better than anyone else was doing". I too miss his commentary, I told him that at an IMS autograph session in 2013 and he said that ABC didn't always like him speaking his mind. I put that one on ABC, who did they think they were hiring? Thank you all for the kind words. Scott

He got fired at ABC for speaking his mind? Didn't Uncle Bobby and Sam Posey speak their mind? Sometimes I wondered where their thoughts came from, but I always felt they were speaking their minds. I thought Tom was great fun to listen to.

If a person wants a good laugh just listen to what Tom Sneva says through the first quarter of the 1998 Indy 500 broadcast.

I always enjoyed Tom. He, however, always had a reputation of being hard to get along with. One of my favorite quotes about Sneva was "10 guys get into an elevator, 9 guys push up, and Senva pushes down". I can't remember which driver said it, but it sure describes Tom. He and Geprge Bignotti were a great team, but they did get along well at all.
