Good looking tires. Interesting exhaust layout, surprising that you'd want those heavy pipes up so high.

That's a super build Calvin, you put a lot of effort into making and then building the kit and it turned out great!
I hope this motivates others to build it.

Looks like Sandy was right. Those wheels, and tires make for a totally different car. Great job, Calvin, Sandy, and Gary. I think the yellow tank thing was ballast to help corner speed, but I could be wrong. The tires and tank were not much help, as the car was only slightly faster than it was in 63. The exposed engine looks neat, so now I have to put this on my "to do" list. Take Care Craig

It is interesting to me that several of my favorite Indy cars did NOT do well at the Speedway...we need the display at The HOF Museum to include several innovative and interesting cars...we could call that section "Close but no Cigar"... Calvin: a very cool build and well done...love the paint and decals! Tim

I always liked the quirky cars that showed up at Indy back in the early days. I always liked the looks of the 64 Mickey Thompson cars, although they were well proven non-performers. All the cars with the engine laid down like Apache Airlines car, the side car, Yunick thingy and on and on. They make up a colorful history of backyard engineering that tried to conquer Indy. Some were more successful than others.
The rear engine revolution is a prime example, it took a few years and some efforts but they finally took over the game. There was no computer engineering, no wind tunnel testing, no aerodynamic engineering much beyond the eyeball. Pretty interesting times, also pretty dangerous times for sure.
Looking forward to making an Apache Airlines Special, another attempt at the grand prize of the day.

It looks great Cal, well done! For this car to qualify as many times as it did certainly rates some kind of praise.

Thanks everyone! I had no idea that this strange car was going to be so popular! I was just going to make this kit for Craig and hopefully just barely sell 8 of them to pay off the bills, but I never woulda though I 50 was going to sell to this point...go figure!
