On the RM Auctions site you can also find some photos of a 1972 and a 1981 Eagle offered for sale at Monterey later this month. The '81 car has some modified rear bodywork, but some good shots none the less.

Oh Myyy as George Takei would say! If I were a Gurney fanatic (I am!) and were stinking rich (I'm not!) I'd go after the Alligator, the '72, the '81 and the '69. And then look for a good Gurney raced Cobra to top it off. Wow, what a selection.
Now, were is that lottery ticket??

Ok, I have to say it...........the color on the Santa Anna looks very light, almost a French Blue. Not what at least I think of being on an Eagle. I know, I shouldn't have said anything. Moderators, I'm sorry! Paul Erlendson

I agree, when I saw it in the shop in 69 just before the rollout it was definitely a dark fine metallic blue looked almost pearl... I think when they restored the car they choose this color which I dont think is the same...Chris My paint isnt quite right but much closer...
Hey! I love color debates! Lets drag Craig into this one.....he loves Eagle Blue color threads!
Not gonna happen, Calvin. We all do our own research, and use the color we think is correct. As far as the 69 car is concerned, I have no doubt that the car was a beautiful metallic dark blue when it left the shop. The body on that car was modified almost every day at Indy. The car that raced looked very little like the car that rolled out. I don't think it got a new "show car" finish every time they changed something. As always, I could be wrong.

I should say, the House of Kolor Cobalt Blue I used on this model is not right, I used it because it is close, I really liked it and again it was a exercise in Artist Freedom!! I had some paint left over from another build and thought this would look awesome on the 69 Santa Ana Eagle.. I was at the roll out and saw the original car, as I have posted in the past, when I asked Dan Gurney about the color of the Eagle he specifically told me 'Cadillac Firemist Blue" The color has been debated so many times on so many forums and I dont want to stir the pot but that is what Gurney told me.. I love the way this came out on this car.. The Roll Out car did appear at Indy and when it rolled off the trailer they started making changes, cooling was the first problem, then down force, handling and on and on.. Chris
