But apparently he didn't use them in the race. Pete said they didn't have enough time to fully develop them.
Where do you find these pictures? You are amazing!!!

We’re done here. Since last time the roll bar, rear bumper, and supports have been added. (A real bugger—next time I’ll use plastic rod rather than brass and aluminum.) Also new are the oil tank, windshield, exhaust, wheels and tires and the elbow shield. Credits: Body—modified from a Sellers 1963 Watson. Tires—Classic Racing Resins Decals—Indycals (numbers, DZUS fasteners, accessory decals, tires), GWS Decals (Tombstone Life logo) and Russ Bundy. Driver and Mechanic name decals homemade. The AMT Watson kit provided the visible frame, wheels, exhaust header, steering wheel and some suspension parts. Sellers’ Watson kit was the doner for the seat, rear bumper, and oil tank. Visible part of offy engine -- American racing Miniatures. “Blueprint” by Bob Clindinst. Coil Springs—by RB Motion (I made my own for the first try at this car. For the second I went with the RB Motion coils; they really work!) Nose Scoop—modified from Classic Racing Resins 64 Parnelli Jones nose and vacuum formed. Thanks Calvin
The photo shows the exhaust pipe slanting downward. Since the picture was taken, this has been corrected to have the exhaust run parallel to the ground. Am pretty happy with the "burnt" look on the exhaust. Not happy with the windshield--I installed it with too much of a slant.
Thanks for tuning in and all the kind comments. Next up may be Herks 1962 Jim Robbins Spl.

The finished product really shows the care and attention to detail that you put into this build. I think all of the roadster guys here are going to dream of this car tonight with them being Herk trying to wrestle this beautiful beast around The Brickyard!

Just great work, Kip. Glad to see how it turned out. I agree with the comment about Herk. AJ, Parnelli, Herk, and McClusky were really something in whatever they drove. I saw them in sprint and stock cars and they could beat anybody. You did honor Herk with this one and all of us who enjoyed the roadster era. Jim

I didn't notice until I saw the photos. The front end sits too high. Checked it against the drawing and its true. Took the front end apart and lowered it to the proper height. Continuing with the Herk/roadster theme. Next will be either Herk's Demler 99 laydown (an early Ducette kit) built pretty much box stock or Herk's 1962 Jim Robbins ride (modified from a Sellers' Watson). Any preferences? We aim to please. kip

Yeah!! We love the roadsters. Wonder how they would do if they were running at Indy today. I would go see them run. Let's go with Robbins ride. Jim

A sad update about Herk. I suppose you know that after the crash he was treated at a famous burns hospital in Texas. Because of the burn damage they told him he would not have flexibility in his hands/fingers. He told them to fix them so he could grip a steering wheel which they did. This is how he raced and worked on his cars all the years after this terrible crash. I am sure it took him a great deal more time to do just simple tasks than the rest of us. He was special. Jim

OK. I leveled out the exhaust pipe and lowered the front end. Now it’s really done. Actually, I finally broke down and bought a smart phone and I wanted to see how the camera worked. Amazing. Photos are better than what I can get with my SLR. Thanks to all for following this thread and for the very kind comments. And thanks to all who offered advice, help, and even parts. kip

Looks great and I personally didn't catch the nose up attitude. Isn't amazing how seeing your build in photos just makes things jump out at you!?

Great looking subject. I really like it once you got rid of the droppy exhaust.
I used to talk to Jim Hurtubise. He had a muffler shop on Crawfordsville Road. I just recently got rid of a parts washer that used to belong to him. He was a nice guy, and a legend for being a "fun loving" type here on the West Side.rt58
