I cant help myself I need to start the 2014 Winner! This is going to be a build up of the Classic Racing Resins new reissue of the DW12 kit which has been painstakingly updated and re-engineered for easier building. As the days go on I will share the new features of this new re-issued kit. The first update I'll be sharing with you is that this kit is pressured casted! Which means fewer pinholes in the resin! About 90% less which will make clean up and prep work way less! The next major update is the ALL IN ONE rear bumper section. No longer do you have to measure, drill out, eyeball, and adjust. Its now a "Plug n Play" just one simple step.......GLUE IT ON!....and thats it!....a monkey could do it! In a few days I will tell you about the new mirrors, the new suspension, and all the other new little parts!

Looking good Calvin! Are you going to have bumpers for proper racing ..... I mean road circuit cars as an option this time around?

It would be a great challenge to try to cast those. Since building this kit if I recall only 2 other people have asked about RC wings. Most people want to build cars that competed in the greatest race in the world.

the Classic Racing Resins new reissue of the DW12 kit which has been painstakingly updated and re-engineered for easier building. I have to say that this really looks good. There is a bunch of detail work in there. I notice the opening where exhaust goes, is that for different exhaust configs? Single vs dual pipe exits? Great work, Calvin. Makes me glad I've been saving my pennies! Jordan

I tried out my suspension molds last night and it came out OK but not the best ( Little rough) But what is going for it is the pins of the suspension are already cast into the arms! and with the type of resin I use its just like regular plastic! All you have to do is drill out the already marked holes with a small drill and glue them on straight...and that's it!
I'm most likely going to redo the suspension molds I know why they came out kinda rough but trying to explain why on here is little tricky for me right now.....for someone that knows resin stuff I've been cutting the masters out of the molds....I'm trying to figure out how to make a thin barrier inbetween the suspension arms instead like thin paper but it never comes out that good. (like I said this prolly doesn't make sense to anyone that has done this stuff)
But when the suspension comes out correctly (cast correctly) its just like plastic injection parts - it has the flex and the strength and its not too brittle....so I feel if it get some of these little problems figured out, the days of thinking about getting white metal done up will be over for sure!
I also have some new resin on order that I will be trying out soon as well that is made just for very thin resin parts so it could be even better? Maybe?

As top your issue with the suspension arms, you might try picking this guy's (modern-hobbies) brain. He is a wizard at casting small fragile parts.

Incredible work Calvin. I think it's a safe to say that you are true blessing to Indycar modelers in 1/25th scale.

Just primer and did some wet sanding...once again need more parts to continue (see rubber story) But the new pressure casted resin really makes a huge difference in the clean up time....WAY LESS Air bubbles ....almost none....I'd say clean up has been cut 70% over my old resin ways! I also made some pretty nice radiator block offs for this kit as well (not shown)....so no more styrene templates....they will all be ready to go in resin for ya! Also take note of the improved camera as well! and..... and.... the new fuel filler with a ring that just has be painted silver! I cant wait to get the Daytona yellow and Chrome yellow on this!

Always liked RHR back since 2003 when he and JV drove those great looking American Spirit cars. Was not disappointed that he won this year so I'm excited for this one.

The new kit will also have.... All in one resin mirrors and radiator block offs. No scratch building on these - just glue them on! Ground effect tunnel (or whatever they call them) extensions. No scratch building - just glue them on! I couldn't help myself I just had to start decaling the bumpers!

Those 28's need to be stretched and blow'd up! Lots of teams increased the height on their numbers this year.

The number size is regulated by the rule book. We've had issues with that last year and this year. It doesn't help that they were painted on.

Rocket WAS going to make everyone go back to ONLY the Impact font on a black outlined white box at the beginning of the year. Thank god IMS Creative Services and the marketing department was able to talk him out of it.

Shoot, I want to see some of those great old gold machined-look numbers like PJ and Foyt. Those boxes with the basic font numbers look like it's from a tinny little World Touring Car Chevy Cruze or something. MJ

Impressive, I was wondering if the Tamiya might show the difference in the white primer vs Daytona yellow underneath but that looks great!! Very uniform.

They must have wrapped the front wing and underwing...hmmm
I never noticed the color differences before.

The color differences are by design. The rear wing was a complete wrap (I saw them take it off in post-race tech) and it matched the darker yellow perfectly. The lighter yellow has been on the car for years.
