This is another build by Ed(spyder)Mautner. This was done about 14 years ago but we've been using it as a display model at our shows. BTW- Ed won't boast about his builds, but I can say that this build was best in the open wheel competition class at the 2001 IPMS National convention in Chicago. He does nice work. Thanks for looking. Tom

Beautiful work, and a great choice to show what someone can do with one of those kits. IMO this is the prettiest car to ever win the 500.

Beautiful build. The photography is fantastic. Looks professional to me. Does Ed remember how he got that great gold paint job?

Still looks awesome after 14 years. The Miller 91s are some of the best looking 500 machines from this era to me.

Duane is correct(I hate when that happens), the photos do not do it justice.

There is not a good enough word in the dictionary to describe how good it is!

Guys, thanks for all your kind words. It is probably the best model I have ever built and I really enjoy checking it out myself. When Chris' stuff came out I knew I wanted to build them, but could not afford them. I know this is a familiar story. I received the Miller from Peggy Jones/MCM out in Costa Mesa when we were living in Orange Co. It was payment for doing two or three Millers in the same scheme for her to sell as build-ups for her shop. She ran a wonderful shop, mostly for the 1/43rd crowd, but she was and is a wonderful lady and her shop is greatly missed. Little did I imagine that I would one day be producing "continuations" of Chris' beautiful models.
To Kip: I followed Chris' instructions re: paint. I rattle canned the recommended Plasti-Kote #1007 Gold Met., smoothed it but not polished it, decaled and then clear coated with Floquil's Crystal-Cote ( thinned with that wonderful old nasty Diosol - loved that stuff), and then rubbed out with Micro-Mesh. Everything has held up quite well over the years - comstruction (Chris did a wonderful engineering job), decals, paint, and white metal. I have never re-polished any of it, just dust it off occasionally.
Again, thanks for the compliments. spyder

After all these years, Millers are still thrilling, and gorgeous to see. Like a fine watch. The sound of that straight eight could heal the sick.
