Outstanding Stu! I know that at times this one has been a true battle at times but also a labor of love. Tell everyone about the wheels. :-)

Hopefully not Calvin. It all comes apart. In fact I had to hurry up and take the last photo because I was worried the wheels would fall off. I have a large piece of foam I picked out of the garbage at work. I plan to cut a notch in it and sit the car inside. Hopefully.

Man, I bet you feel like Colin Champman should have bought you some crew shirts now that you've hand assembled all these individual rivet and other small pieces. I think at the next Historics you should offer to help the guys working on the 1:1 Lotus racers Beautiful work on this one head to toe. Best of good fortune in shipping it! Jordan

The customer purchased it from Japan I think for around $600.

The customer purchased it from Japan I think for around $600. That's a bit less then I would have guessed.

Stu
What were your impressions of the MFH kit? What was the degree of difficulty? Did you think it was worth the money? How was the fit? finish? engineering? Could you make sense of the instructions?
these are extremely pricy kits. I have wanted to build one, and they have so many subjects. I would hate to purchase one and then not be able to build it.

Hubie - All and all the MFH kit is fantastic. The instructions for say the front suspension took some guess work but I test fit several times to make sure I was doing it right and everything went together well. Overall the instructions are very good and pretty detailed.
I did not have to purchase the car myself but I can say that you definitely get your moneys worth. If I had to count the hours just drilling out the rivet holes and installing the white metal rivets one by one, I would say I have close to 10 hours just in that. You don't have to drill them out but it's an option they give you. Since I was building this for someone else I didn't have any choice but I would have done it anyway. It really sets the car off.
I was very please on fit and finish this being the first one I have done from MFH. A few years prior I built the MG 1/12th scale Lotus 79 and the MFH is hands down better engineered but I loved building the MG kit as well. Double check and constantly test fit. Make sure your front suspension is true on both sides or the body cowl will not sit flush.
I think with your model experience you should have no problem building one of the MFH kits Kevin. You just have to stay with it. With so much detail it's hard to get bored doing one of these. I grew weary of doing the rivets but there is so much to do that you can stop and do a different subassembly and go back later. *Tip* Paint the body first and set it aside. The longer the paint cures the better off you are. Down the road you are picking this thing up and test fitting a lot.

Oh! Just remembered. Count your parts to make sure everything is there. I had to steal a rear suspension part from my Tamiya Lotus 78 because I was missing the white metal piece on the kit. Also, the cowl around the driver is three pieces. I had the center piece and two right hand pieces instead of a left & right. On this issue I took a photo showing MFH and they sent me the left side piece in about a week. Like I said there is so much to do, waiting on the replacement part was no biggie. Better to know ahead of time if you are missing something rather than get to that portion of the build and find you are missing something.
The amount of parts these kits have will overwhelm you at first but it's so cool...

What a beauty. Looks real and I guess that is ultimate goal with building scale replicas. I am working on a MFH Ferrari 512M (a Mark Donohue car) and even in the less detailed 1/24 scale I am struggling a little with it.
Impressive indeed.
