Getting started on this Gary Doucette kit. I placed two wires through the firewall to represent pedal arms and attached the clutch pedal arm to the bellhousing. Cut out and bent two foot guides for either side of the tranny. Really hard to see in photos of the real thing, but I think the pedals are as follows: left side- clutch, right side gas then brake. The wire wheels come with 3 rows of photo etch, a spacer and hub. I decided to add another spacer made of elect. wire and used the resin spacer for the back to hold the whole thing together.

Oh boy! I have this kit. Glad I didn't start it as you have some great ideas. I'm going to watch and learn.
The pedals look great and the wire wheel spacer is a great idea. I've had spacer problems on some of Garys wire wheels. Wish I had thought of wire.

Very nice job. Thanks for the clever job on the pedals. Too bad it is hard to find good photos of these old cars or to get close enough at the Museum to good a good look. Please continue to share your progress. Jim

As they say "one good clear photo is worth a thousand words" or something like that. This is a great WIP, thanks for the photos and posting it all.

Yeah because our forum free allotment for space is currently maxed out.....To get more space it takes $$$ All pics will have to be posted by web hosting service. ie. Photobucket, Imgur, Flickr......

Did I miss what the proper color for this car is? Dark maroon, non-metallic.

Since Craig isn't here I can talk about color! (YES! Party time!)
IMO after doing hours of research and days of color testing under some of the most climate controlled conditions in my secret lab.
Tamiya TS-11 Maroon would be the best choice!

Yours turned out really well. Thanks for sharing all the scratchbuilding that you did. I am waiting on mine to arrive so what you did will be most helpful. I am glad that Gary did this since we have always been missing a proper scale model of this great car. Jim
