Ok, just a thought I had, has anyone ever considered making decals of the cheezy patterns of upholstery on some of the iconic roadsters, like Old Calhoun or Betsy? If I recall, they both had a houndstooth plaid pattern to the seats and back panels.
What made me think of this was a beautiful sheet I bought to make the 1955 Mercedes 300SLR car from LeMans. The sheet was made by Vintage Racing Miniatures and has a plaid pattern for seat inserts that matches the 1:1 cars. Really adds to the overall appearance.
The simpler the car markings, as in the '50's thru the '60's, the more the upholstery patterns could add to the overall realistic appearance.
What ya'all think?

Sounds like a solid idea. You can search "Mercedes" on this forum to fine old and new Silver Arrows where the seat patterns really pop on the builds.

Hmmm, according to Keith Martin's Sports Car Market my 1965 Dean Van Lines Special had a "black and white houndstooth cloth and vinyl seat.

I used some of those mentioned by eagle36 on my '64 Foyt Watson. While not an exact reproduction, I like the effect.

I make a houndstooth pattern for the 1/12 scale Ferrari 312B, but the pattern is so fine that to get it down to 1/25 scale it would disappear.
