Hi fellow Indycar fans! My name is Ric, and I'm from Maryland. My Mom started me building models when I was 5, and except for a pause during college, I've been building them ever since. I started with the 1/25 scale plastic kits, then moved on to 1/43 scale resin kits by Starter and Provence Moulage. I've done Renaissance, Tenariv, Formula, Tameo, Alezan, SMTS, Hi-Fi, and even a few MA Scale Models kits. As the years and kits have gone by, my skill level has improved, but I'd still only rate myself as average. I used to build a lot of Le Mans models, but with the advent of Spark Models, I find that they can do as well or better than I can, for a price less than I can buy the kits for!
Now I do a lot of conversions, until recently, mostly NASCAR in 1/64 scale. My girlfriend and I had a great time at last year's Baltimore Grand Prix, and that motivated me to build the Indycar starting grid from that race. I enjoyed doing the conversions so much that I decided to attempt the 2013 Indy 500 starting grid as well. I used ready-built Greenlights whenever I could, and converted the rest. The project is finally complete, save for the #6 Sebastian Saavedra car, which I can't find decals for.
While searching for those decals, I came across this forum. Much of the work here is spectacular, and though I can't compete quality-wise, I thought I would join, if only to enjoy the work of others, and to contribute when I can. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to post up pics of those 32 cars. What I lack in quality I make up for in quantity!
