I got the silver and the blended out smoke on. I need to practice more on masking as I have a lot of touching up to do but that's how you get better at masking is to do crazy paint jobs like this. Here is a new video that shows the drama of last weeks race in Tri-Cities, WA

I got the decals done and ready well the 2nd or 3rd time....or what ever! All I can say is WHAT A PAIN IN THE DONKEY BUTT it is doing decals. Thank goodness we dont have to put up with this with our open wheel models! Thank goodness we have Indycals! THANK YOU! Thank you Thank you! I like applying decals but I sure hate trying make these damn ink jet things. You have to do all sorts of silly things to make them come out fair to OK. I haven't had enough time to work on this for a couple of days as I've been working hard with the resin business. But I did get some decals on....which has been very very long and tedious as I've had to cut out every little part of the white decals and double them.....still lots of fixing to do.....its turning into one of those "A mark of a good modeler is how well he covers over his mistakes"..... deals (Does that make sense?) This decal job makes a 2013 Tony Kanaan Winner a walk in the park. I still have to fix up the cockpit area and paint the top silver and then put the shark teeth on.....which give the nick name of this boat - "sharkey"

Nice work so far, you picked a bear of a project for your first decal project. Especially a project that has a scheme that really is outside the realm of an easy ink jet. Very impressive.

I love these hydroplane WIPs. This one is a beauty. Some time I would love to see you do a tutorial on how you make your decals.

Some time I would love to see you do a tutorial on how you make your decals. Basically I just use a combination of Microsoft Paint and Microsoft word embarrassing enough - Paint to clean up the logo that I usually copy off the web (The bigger the better - when it comes to finding a logo) Then after I'm happy with the logo I select it and copy it over to Microsoft word were I size it up for the model. I first will do a test print with normal paper and cut it out and place it on the model to see if the size is correct. Then if all is good stick the decal paper in the printer and select print setting to "Glossy paper" and "Best quality". After it prints wait a good hour (Just to be sure) and spray the decal spray (I dont know what is called) and let it sit for a couple hours for it to dry. Making your own decals is a desperate way of getting decals to be honest with you. You have to really work at making them look acceptable. Any logo that has white can make you cry when doing ink jet decals and these home decals are very transparent as well.

I find these two videos from last weekends San Diego Bayfair..... Beautiful! 2 ton - 30 foot tall Roostertails in the corners and 190MPH side by side on salt water.

I'm done with Sharkey! I've had enough! I'm happy enough! It has some roughness to it but oh well, that's what I get for doing my own ink jet decals. I had fun until the end when doing the home made ink jet decals got very tedious when I had to double them up and cut out every little white letter and of course, the quality is just not up to my standards. Then it didn't help I was skipping around to different models and I would forget what I was doing on this and make dumB mistakes. Doing multiple models at the same time is a very very bad habit!
