Here are "two"...1/25th scale Offenhauser Engines. One in scale.....the one on the right. The other isn't, it's the AMT engine from the Watson Roadster kit. Seeing as my next project the engine is going to be seen, you have to dress the pig up! This is one of the great debates I have had with Bob Clidinst. I have maintained the AMT Watson isn't so bad....Bob thinks it's awful due to the fact the Offy is not in scale. Well, when this is all we have had for a long time....The in scale Offenhauser is from Chris Etzel's Kuzma kit...It's waiting for me to tackle it.....Chris had a kit that was just the Offenhauser Engine........I wish I could find 20 of them... Best to you all Russ

How about if I cast them? I have a virgin offy kit just waiting to soak in some silicone.

They both look grest, Russ! I agree that the Etzel Offy is a work of art and could stand alone on your shelf. The AMT is more than adequate if painted and detailed a little and then tucked down in the Watson fame. Most of my models never get looked over real well after the initial "showing-off" for friends and family!

Chris's engines are needed, that's for sure! Just make sure and tell us, Russ, how to make them fit into the AMT kit!

Hey, oldcalhoun! Did you forget the *tutorial* on how to fit the Etzel engine into the AMT kit? ;D I have an upcoming project (a Rocket Red '64 Watson from '64 with gold leaf markings!) that will also have some of the side panels removed with the engine visible. Can't get enough of yuor show and tell. Mongo

HEY MONGO!!!!!!! Sheriff Bart didn't forget Etzel Offy tutorial.....I never planned one. Sorry. The simple fact is Etzel's Offy Engine is the correct size and too darn big for the old AMT Watson... One of Bob Clidinst's biggest complaints with that old kit too! You'll have to do what I did with the 1960 Winner, the Ken-Paul Special I did. Take the old undersized Offy from the kit and dress that pig the best way you can. The one on the left is the kit Offy, the one on the right is Etzel's Offy which is by far more accurate, but just doesn't fit the old AMT kit....sorry, It's 10 times better, but just doesn't fit. Give me a call Mongo. Best to you Russ

Thanks, Sheriff Bart!
I remembered that you mentioned about possibly getting an Etzel Offy into the build, but it's a shame that we can't make it fit somehow!
I have been looking closely at a spare Offy from the Monogram Kurtis kit which seems to scale out pretty decent for 1/25th. You, and th eother guys here, have created a sick monster (ME!!!) and I have almost completely stepped away from other types of models. So.......... I am really going to try and make *something* work! LOL!!
I always try to do one really detailed build of a series when I am model building. Most are very close to box stock, just getting the right paint and markings with a few details. But I like to do ONE with everything I can throw at it. My Watson detail project is going to be one of A.J.'s two roadster winners. It is leaning towards his '64 winner since I have Lance's fantastic conversion parts and Bob's drawings.
I left some messages, I'll try again! ;D
