Hi, I just had to open my big mouth, so now it looks like I'm involved. Here's whats happening with this model. I discussed this project with Calvin over the weekend. He's got so much going on that he can't fully produce this model as a complete kit. I talked to Gary Sleeper (gwstexas) and he's agreed to make the decals which will be available from me. Calvin is making the wide & low '64 wheels and tires. He also said he'd make some Metal Cal Spl kits available without the '60 M-C decals for those wanting to do the '64 Apache car. Theres a few details to be worked out, but it looks like it's going to happen in a round about way. Info and photos on the car's markings are needed. The box/tank like object behind the left rear wheel needs a little more investigation as in what the heck is it? It's only in some photos. I'll post more info as things develop. Sandy

Thanks Mark, thats a good shot. How many of us interested in building this car would want the exposed engine over the closed panel version. How did it run on race day, open or closed?

What color are the numbers? Gold? White? And what is the decal on the fin? I'm building this car out of a Belond car, moved the cockpit and reshaped the nose, maybe i'll put the dent in it too, anybody know what happened?

Tthe numbers and lettering are Gold with Black outlines on the Apache Airlines Spl. What about the # 23 Bowes Seal Fast Spl. driven by Johnny Boyd in 1963 Same car. If I could post a photo on this site I would, still haven't been able to post photos on any of these chat boards

Rick Rick, the marking on the fin is the company logo of an Apache boy with two feathers. Craig scanned an Apache Air brochure with the picture on it. Keep us posted on your project. This is coming together a bit at a time so if I get anything wrong please jump in and let me know. Walt, the '63 car is really pretty. Tim suggested this one also. It would be a great follow up. Let's get through the Apache car first!!! Sandy

Need to clarify first, that what i'm building is a 1/32 scale slot car for a club we have here in SE Wisc. I'm still looking for color details for the Navarro #50 checkerboard Rambler, any help would be appreciated. Also looking for color of the Cooper Maserati Al Unser took his driver test in, i like the oddball cars.

I would love to see this kit to be produced!!!! Engine exposed would be the ultimate.
Rick, I live in SE Wisconsin where do you race? I have a two Cox cars from the Sixties and would love to put them on a track. I also have my transparent green MRC hand control from back in the day. I don't even know if they work as they have been packed away for some 40 years. If nothing else I would love to see the racing.

'64 Apache Airlines Decal update- To quote Gene Wilder in "Young Frankenstein", "IT LIVES!" Close enough anyway. Here's the test fitting of a few of the paper proof copies. Gary has the green light and should be printing them this weekend. He did a great job on the art work. Cost will be $7 for the first set (postage in US incl.) and $6 for each set after that. Overseas orders $8 for first set and $6 for each additional. Checks, M/O's and American cash (nothing from any of the "'stans") accepted. Paypal, OK but as a last resort as I still don't understand it. Thanks to all who have ordered so far. More info when I have the decals ready to go. Contact Calvin for the '64 version of his Metal Cal Spl kit. First 10 customers get free custom made kitchen cabinets courtesy Duane "racerbrown". Sandy '

Dammit, Sandy, you may force me to build one of those. Gary did a nice job for you. To avoid any debate, the car is red. any red you like will be correct.

Craig Oh Lordy, Please don't say ' any' red or ' any' color in front of Calvin, his head might explode. Oh Craig your no fun! I was thinking TS-8 would work good but then I thought well the hue isn't that great for the Apache car but then I realized that Tamiya just came out with a new can of red paint that might work pretty good as I think it might be used for the latest Ferrari F1 cars but that has nothing to do with Apache airlines but my point is that Craig needs to do a little more research into his colors as its a very important part of this hobby and if you dont do research on color your get an email or post From Michael telling that you are wrong and you sure dont want to have that happen because you will get colors 101 class but my main point is I was looking at the picture of the apache car and I was thinking you know it might be Tamiya bright red? What do you guys think? I think someone should try it out as its important for all the people that bought this kit to know the right color so us model weenies can sleep at night knowing that all Apache cars are being painted correctly but also you have the Model Master brands of paint that might have a color that holds the key to perfect Apache red or maybe someone could go to Arizona and go see the Apache airlines museum were that car is and hold up some color samples but it could be faded because old red paint fades then we will be really screwed! But at the end of the day I think TS-8 will be good enough..... What I just said was total BS (fyi)^^^^^If you bothered to read all of that you are certified "Model Weenie"

I don't think you should drink alcohol, Calvin, but a bottle of wine, and a nice long nap would help. Those 1/25 kitchens might take as much time as the full size, Duane. The 10 might be all different, Sandy did say "custom".

I don't know why I would buy into that since the airline was a small commuter airline.
I've seen some pics of the 64 car and I'd love to add one to my "to build" stack. Nice car and nice work on the replica.

Decal Update, I've been away on a 24 shift so here's a little catch up. The other day (after the proof was posted) Walt 'oldphotos' provided some additional info about a few colors (thx!). The info was passed to Gary who has now made the changes prior to printing. I'll be PMing my address this morning to all who have ordered. So let me know if you don't get a PM. Thanks guys for your support in this "I just want to model this car and I need the decals" project. All of Duane's free cabinets have been spoken for. As of this morning the Arizona Apache Airlines car is still... red. Just red.

Ditto. I was anxious to see how these turned out as I have ordered decals for my 1964 Hurtubise roadster from Gary. After seeing how nice the Apache decals are, I have high expectations for the Tombstone Life Spl.
