That was my first 500. Interesting day in that I was thrilled I might witness Mario winning his second, then rooting for good guy and deserving driver Roberto Guerrero and finally witnessing history as Big Al won his fourth.

That looks very good! This was the most dominant car of the 1980's It was untouchable. By the 2/3 mark he had a two lap lead!
He also did the same thing at Michigan that same year as well, he had a 2 lap lead just past halfway and something broke yet again!
Just an unbelievable speedway car.
One of those cars that if it didn't break it won.

To this date, nobody led as many laps at Indy since the 1979 pace-car bunch up rule. 170 laps lead out of 177 completed before he broke down.
Had he not broke down, he would not have relinquished the lead - he would have lead 193 laps... a number surpassed only by Bill Vukovich, Billy Arnold and Ralph DePalma (losing effort). But he would have done it under the bunch-up rule. Not only the most dominant car of the 80s, but one of the most dominant ever (at least at Indy).
Very nice build.

I'm getting ready to build this car in 1:64 (decals ordered) but I have a question for you guys. I see on the left rear there is a small hole. I believe this started showing up in 1985, What exactly is this?
