It was great to watch the '66 GP on the ABC channel and a surprise was the McLaren M2A. It looked heavy and underpowered. but Bruce soldiered on...I got a hold of a re=pop Lancer slot car body that looked right. I decided to use this project to learn more about working with that type of plastic in the static model application... I used the Ford Indy engine from the Gurney Eagle kit, in fact I used the monocoque from the same Eagle. Anyway, the engine was detailed with a battery and some wiring... Bruce attached the engine to a ZF trans unit and there was one that came with a Lotus Indy car... It's hard to see, but the body fit very nicely over the chassis, just like it was made for it! I masked the windscreen off ans painted the whole thing white... slipped the body over the chassis... Patrick

Judging by the angle of front wheels at the apex and Bruce's arms and the smeared Good Year tire markings, "soldiering on" might be an understatement.

Looking great as always, Patrick!

With a car that pushes that badly you can't add power until well after the apex.
Nice photos.

Oh, yes, Peter Arron. An American World Driving Champion thanks to Iso Yamura's excellent car. No wait...different time phase...that was 15 seconds from reality.

Patrick's taken a little break from building. Hopefully, he will come back recharged because he really is great at finding plastic toys and turning them into models.

Patrick, A most impressive and creative build that took a skill set much higher then mine to have created a McLaren M2A, especially one that turned out that well. Sure glad that you finished it. Joel
