I know someone has built Gary's Ascot Legion dirt car. I need any advice I can get about applying the decals. I'm thinking about cutting them into sections that match up with the panel lines and applying them that way. As anyone knows that has built this car the bump on the hood is the real issue. Thanks for any help that may come.

Have you tried decal setting or softening solution for that hood bump? I did trains for collectors, and the solvent was a real boon, though you have to be super careful. Experience helps with this one. I have cut decals up to apply them more times than I can remember, literally. Panel lines weren't always available, but a good match works great. Use decal setting solution and just a tad of water to keep them floating till you get them just right. Works like a charm. Panel lines are a perfect place for the 'break' just work real hard to keep alignment, and allow for the length lost. Hope this helps.
