Nice job on these old kits! I have all of them in my stash but haven't built one yet. It looks like all they need are careful painting and assembly, a few low-cost mods and some parts box pieces to make decent replicas out of them. The only one that really disappointed me was the Fuel Injection Spl., cockpit is centered on the kit rather than offset as on the real car. Heven't figured out how to correct that one yet! Looks like a TON of work! Oh well, that's why it's called modeling - LOL! Again, great job - Brian

I have it on good authority that a really nice resin kit of this subject will soon see the light of day. Oh, happy, happy day! I've been eyeing one of these on a certain internet auction site for some time, but a resin kit would really be great news. One of my all time favorite cars. Great job on this one!

Okay......Some time this next year, if my health remains good. I will have the body done for Lance Sellers so he can produce the Wilbur Shaw Maserati 8CLT he won with twice in 1939 & 1940. I'm having trouble with my right hand, but I working on it. I'll try to post a photo I did some time back. Thanks!

Great looking model Dr. Dave!
I have at least one Merit '48 Maserati kit down in the Fortress of Solitude, and I am thinking more and more that it looks VERY close to the Shaw winner. There is a LOT of similarity.... can't see much different actually! Of course i actually need to get the kit out and look it over. It IS a ??/CLT.......

Hi ya Bill!
The old Merit kits is a Maserati 4CLT and it's a bit off. If you need accurate drawings of the 8CLT, e-mail me your address and I'll send you a copy.

HI Russ,
Thank you, AGAIN! I just sent yuo a PM, and this is my email: wlittleiii *at* nc.rr.com
I would love to see the differences between the two. I have had the Merit kit forever, just waiting to build *something* with it! What could possibly be better than a Indy Winner?? (that is if it can be done)

Yesterday at Canoga Park High School was the So. Cal NNL. It was a great show and they took this photo of my 1940 Indy 500 winner and you can see just over my model Chris Hale's excellent Merit Alfa Romero 159 "Alfta" that was the basic starting point of my Maserati 8CLT. It was a great show too! I spent too much money and got goodies to work on some kits I have. Best to you all Russ
