I don't know about you all, but I thought the LBGP was outstanding this year. Hunter-Ray's impatient (nice way of saying bone-headed) move on poor Newgarden really messed up the race, but made for a great finish. Without that wreck I expected Ryan to pass Joseph later that lap and just do a Vettle and take off, leaving Newgarden to fight for 2nd.
After that, I really thought it was going to fall to Power, but Conway was outstanding. What an inspired move by Ed Carpenter to put him in for the road races - well, not really inspired. Everyone said he should put someone else in for the Road/Street races, but Conway is perfect.
Those of you who hate the street races, I can sometimes see why, but you have to go to Long Beach at least once. I've missed the last two since moving to northern California, but I won't miss 3 in a row. It is such a happening event, with so much to see, all of it car-related (or pretty girl related). Heck, last time I was there Tamiya had a booth selling at huge discounts and I got a Lotus 79 for $36.
And sometimes, like yesterday, a great race breaks out!

Hoping to watch it on YouTube this week. Caught pieces of it but not the whole thing.

I liked the race - the story of the race had lots of twist and turns.

I've never been a Paul Tracy fan, but if thought he gave some pretty good insights from a drivers perspective.

Paul: I second the PT compliment...no fan, but he really helped the broadcast...also, TBell is interesting and energetic...if these 3 are given time to work together, they would be SO MUCH better than Cheever, Goodyear, and all the rest... Tim

They are better than Cheever and Goodyear now. Was disappointed with Ryan Hunter-Rhey as he took out Hinchliffe but that's racing. Pleased with the outcome. Happy that Montoya is not up front.

Enjoyed the race. The incidences were really interesting since I'd already read a lot about the offended drivers intense reactions. To me, it looks like some of them really overreacted.
PT and Townsend along with Leigh make a great group, better than the ABC group by a few hundred miles. PT, TB, & LD had good chemistry, they sounded like they were having fun, they sounded excited by the on track action, and had a good energy level throughout the event.
Can't wait until I get to go to Barber - my first non-oval IndyCar race. Only caught ChampCar a couple of practices at Houston back in 99/Y2K before now.

It was definitely an intriguing race.
I am a bit concerned that Race Control might be a bit gun-shy to penalize any car that has the new series sponsor. Power should have gotten a penalty for his move on Pagenaud. Even he thought he would get a penalty! I give Power a lot of credit - he manned up and showed class. Too bad Pagenaud didn't want to hear his apology.

The NBC crew is light years ahead of the ABC folks IMO. Agree about Race Control. Power deserved a penalty no exceptions. Still not sold on the looks of the cars, but they put on a good show.

I have been to Long Beach since 1976. But after the Irl the racing sucks. The cars suck, paid for ride drivers sucks. Last race I went to was 2009. Thats it will not watch or go again.Spec cars & bad drivers

Still not sold on the looks of the cars, but they put on a good show. To me, function trumps form. It would be nice to have both but if not, I choose good racing. To me, the DW12s race very well. Jordan

So they're not afraid to drop the hammer on a Verizon car.

need a better camera for next year. I imagine its pretty tough to photograph a street race....the fence is always in the way. Thanks for sharing! We love stories and pics!

Glad you had a great time, thanks for sharing the pics. I'm sure going behind the scenes a bit with JD was fun, too!

Wish I had a fancy camera that I can focus better and adjust the shutter speed and all that cool stuff. Jordan, it was a great weekend. James got us in and spent some time with us between his driver coaching duties. Showed us around and made sure we had a good time.
