I've been looking at photos of Masten Gregory's 1965 BRP and I think I can take the Testor's Lotus 38 and convert it to the BRP.
My questions are is that a good base for that car?
Are there any drawings of it available that could be used as reference for this car?
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give, I've been wanting to scratchbuild this car ever since I've seen photos of it.

Is that the fuel filler cap right next to the voltage regulator and inches from the driver's head?

I think you're right Calvin, I don't think it would take much to do this car. I can come up with the gold and red striping and make 41s on my computer. It looks like the coral color used on the Leyton House cars would work too.
This may have to move up on my list of projects!
Bill, you're right about that fuel filler. It is perilously close to the driver!

I think Calvin's Lotus 34 upgrade would be a better starting point.

Colin Chapman always regarded BRP's as copies of his Lotus 25. When BRP submitted their application to join the FOCA, it was rejected! The reason given was that BRP did not manufacture enough of their own components to qualify as a constructor. This was inaccurate, but with just Cooper and Brabham on their side, and Ferrari and especially Chapman at Lotus against, and BRM eventually agreeing, BRP was barred from membership in FOCA. Without admission to FOCA, BRP could not enter the constructors Championship, and receive any starting fees, so they withdrew from F-1 racing and went to Indianapolis instead.
So why not start with a lotus. but a 25, 29, or 34.

If you need anything I can hook you up with some resin reject parts. I'm getting closer to getting the Lotus 34 worked out and I'm sure I'll have some reject parts that I can send you for this possible BRP project. But the only problem I see is your ready to get going on this now and my Lotus 34 is still many weeks out from production.

Calvin, thank you very much for your offer! I'd like to get started soon, but in order get the proper pieces for this car I can wait! Let me see how I want to go about this after all of the advice you guys have given me and I will definitely be in contact with you. I cannot thank you enough.
I've got a couple 1955 Chrysler 300s, a Mercury Cyclone, Dodge Charger and a Barber-Warnock Special either under constuction or in the planning stage so I have plenty of time until I'll get to the BRP!
Everyone thank you for the photos and the help and Calvin thank you so much for your offer, the people on this forum are the best!

What is the finned afterthought thing hanging off the left side of the BRP? Looks like some kind of cooling apparatus for oil perhaps. It looks weird. You are right about this forum, very helpful people and nice to boot. The knowledge is amazing and so helpful, especially with the era I like most, late 50's - 1970. I'll sure be happy to get my hands on the Lotus upgrades! They are cars I have wanted to do since the day they first took to the Speedway
