Like to say hello and thank you to the members for the great information and pictures that have helped with recent builds. Figured it was time to join and hopefully contribute. Just a little background, grew up with a dad and brothers who loved Indy and auto racing, so as a rite of passage, when we got to about age 5 or 6, my dad would take us to the Time Trials at Indy. He and his buddies had tickets for the race for decades, but he still wanted to be at the first day of TT, some of you may remember that was a big event by itself. So I was hooked on Indy cars as soon as I saw the first one exiting the pits heading to turn one. We sat up high in the turn one grandstands and my favorite memories from childhood are the sights and sounds of the great cars of the 60's passing in front of me! I was building models already by age 4 or 5 and it was natural to want to build Indy cars, but not a lot of them available so I built anything that looked cool, including F1, Top Fuel, Funny Cars, and any muscle cars from the era. Started saving the models built when I was an older teenager and now my collection includes them and many diecasts purchased over the past 3 decades. Just finished a build of 2 F5000 cars and 4 driver figurenes, I combined them with 2 F5000 cars purchased from Ghost Models to create a pre-race scene from the mid-70's. Also looking forward to working on a recently purchased Viceroy T332 from Kevin K., and finishing a F1 Shadow DN-5 from Bill Jorgenson. Here is a 15 minute Youtube I recently made of my collection (if it uploads), a bit shaky at the start, but I think it gets better, most Indy cars toward the end. This is probably the easiest way to share seeing my collection if you have a few minutes.

Thank you Patrick! Here are a couple of pics. from about a year ago, a 1/43 F5000 Shadow that I recently completed and the 1/20 scale Shadow DN-5, am presently working on. Both are in the Youtube video, the F5000 is displayed with 3 other cars, all Lolas and the 1/20 is on my desk. Just have builder's block when kits aren't "out of the box" like this one! My avatar is a 1/20 scale DN-5 made by Iritani that I sold to the guy driving the real one at Road America about 10 years ago. Regretted selling it, but Bill came to the rescue with his kit! It's taken forever to build it, but now I am motivated, will post pics when done. Here goes (I hope)....

Hi Eric, Thank you! I am in Manteno, just north of Kankakee. My sister taught at Plainfield H.S. for 30 + years and retired a few years ago, still lives in the northwest corner of Joliet. I also play hockey at the Ingwood Ice Rink in Joliet, just down the road from Plainfield.
