Actually, its quite easy to find out the ancestry of your Eastern Diamondback Muttley. For about $60 there are several places that will do DNA analysis and tell you what breeds your dog is a mix of. I've done it for 3 dogs and its fun--takes about two weeks--and the results are sometimes very surprising. I had an 80 pound mutt that had lots of Jack Russell and Chihuahua in his background. (Also some large dogs of course) Try "Wisdom Panel Insights" on the Web or I think you can get a kit on Ebay. You just swab the dog's mouth. William- Thanks! I had no idea this service was available. Harvey- Great pic of the real Harveythedog. Lance- What a wrecking crew and not another freakin' SNAKE! Michael- "When Cows Attack" & Cal, whats with your aggresive turkeys?

My best shot of a Pheasant yet! I got it yesterday! The only way you can get a shot of one is if you hide. Its almost impossible to get a close up of one of these just because they have supervision - the can see just about everything.

Wow... what an awesome shot. I've only seen a wild pheasant once, and it was sitting alongside I-75 as I was driving by.
BTW, there was a bald eagle flying over the Speedway museum on Friday.

My close encounter with the rinkhals (Hemachatus haemachatus), also called the ringhals or ring-necked spitting cobra. I was about 15 feet away...I had no interest in getting any closer so as not to turn into this in the middle of the Kalahari desert.

Calvin, that pheasant- what brilliant color, what a great shot!! You said they have supervision- does that mean they can't take of themselves? (sorry- my meds don't seem to be working. . . )

You win Cal. Africa is very wild - I wouldn't have enough guts to go there. You have some interesting shots.

You said they have supervision- does that mean they can't take of themselves? They have an eyesight like an Eagle but also they pick up on any little bit of movement.....I'd say I've failed to get a shot of this very bird 30 times in the last year..... 9.8 times out of 10 they see you before you see them.

If you look close at my Killdeer you will see she is standing over her eggs. When I would get too close she would run a few yards away and start flopping around on the ground like she was injured. It was hilarious. She did this to draw me away from the eggs. I've caught the pheasants doing the nasty a few times. It is quite violent. I've been trying to get some pics of a local red fox...but he has been too wily. XXX Squirrels crack me up. I need a bigger lens for birding.

Yep. that's a big boy, and he has quite a harem. that's only about half of them. The Elk, and Bison just walk around like they own the place. As far as I'm concerned, they do. We have been to lots of the National Parks, and they are all great, but Yellowstone is in a class of it's own. If you have never been to Yellowstone, JUST GO. Craig

I'm proud of the Spider I just took! The angle I had to shoot it from had a tremendous amount of backlight and I was able to adjust that away after many times of playing with the camera! The hard part was just taking a picture when the web wasn't moving too much from the wind blowing on it. Also, I was trying to get the eyes in the pic but I just couldn't move the camera anymore to do so....I'll try again latter....

Michael, I used my 55-250 MM Micro....my only option for the distance it was away from me. I just have two other lenses the 18-55 Micro and the 400 telephoto. Duane, I'm sorry I creeped your wife out....I always find spiders cute so I have a hard time realizing others dont. Sandy, I watched that movie back in the day when I was little one and for some reason I wasn't fazed by it but I was also the type of kid that wasn't fazed by Jurassic park neither....which most kids at my age were! Also just a side note, there was one time I had a Black Widow land on my head....which of course I hurried and blushed it off and then sprayed it with brake clean!

Well done. Now you've creeped me out! When I was five years old, my neighbor and I were playing with toy cars on the back porch step railing, when he was bitten by a black widow. He died. I've been terrified by spiders ever since!
