Yesterday I received my spray can of Coyote Orange. I got it from that Mustang place on the web. www.cal-mustang.com/EXTERIOR-LACQUER-TOUCH-UP-PAINT-1964-65-Poppy-red-Code-3-P15004C0.aspxHopefully this spray can works, like still has its propellant and sprays.... Supposedly its lacquer and the correct color.....before anyone says anything about dupi-color having a close Foyt color, I dont care I hate enamel! I'd rather spend 4 times more money on Lacqer than put up with enamel BS! So I'm going to paint up both of my Coyotes at the same time. Michael P. bought this for me last year (end of 2012) when I was just about dead. I'm so thankful to have this because its one of those great looking cars. Lance did an excellent job mastering the shape of it. FYI, I'm going to build this on slightly different than how lance has it in the instructions, there is nothing wrong with how Lance instructs it (I'd recommend doing it the way he says) But yours truly has a strange style that doesn't make sense to very many but makes me feel better inside. (The real truth is its my style of accident prevention building) I did a bunch of test fitting and planing. I have everything in the front end in the pic super glued already. The engine is already glued in as well as the engine cover. Next I will test fit the rear suspension.....oh yeah the cockpit is glued in too!

Calvin, I understand why you're building like an airplane kit but I'm lost as to why you haven't painted the cockpit and engine first. Just curious.

but I'm lost as to why you haven't painted the cockpit and engine first. Just curious. Its mainly for accident prevention. For the cockpit I like to get the bottom all sealed up and filled in. Plus the cockpit can be easily painted with a brush afterwards. As for the engine 75% of it will never be seen, and I'm more worried about making sure everything lines up and fits because nothing is worse than have a nice beautiful paint job on the body or in this case engine cover to later find out it doesn't fit right, or the shock doesn't and needs to be ground out to fit.....or even getting glue on the nice paint job. So if it can be painted afterwards with a brush I will go ahead and glue it on. With my builds everything revolves around the main paint job.

Coyote Orange is on! Everything went pretty smooth with the unfamiliar paint.

The poppy red looks awesome, nice paint job. I always liked the shape of the 67 Coyote, smooth looking car. Lance definitely nailed it!

I love it when mistakes actually turn out to be correct! I thought I screwed up and glued the front spoiler up to high were the nose center part of the opening meets the spoiler. This picture is shows EXACTLY how I have the spoiler on my model. www.flickr.com/photos/elias555/5479397913/in/photostream/

OK, Calvin, I have to get off my butt and get busy! You are still cranking out beautiful models, very quickly!
Great job on one of my favorite subjects!

(See 1981 Coyote as well) I had a problem with the future floor wax as it cracked on both of my coyote orange paint jobs the 1981 is way worse but the 67 isn't as bad.....I might have to redo the 1981

Beautiful! Great looking car! I wish I knew about the Lance kit back then, I have the vacuum form version that I put over an Eagle kit with the wrong wheels, probably the wrong color too! Looks like you nailed it with the orange! I always liked the white "bundle of snakes" I think were in the qualifying photo of this car, so much that I took them off my Carousel 1/18 and painted them white, kinda goes with the rest of how the white "pops" on the orange.

I understand exactly what you are saying. Can't count how many times a drop of super glue has ruined a beautiful paint job--or I have had to file down the body to make something fit. At times it has caused me to put the unfinished kit back in the box and on the shelf. Some are still there.
On to the WIP. Fantastic build you have going here. Love the color (you get such a smooth finish, if it weren't for the decals, you wouldn't need a clear coat), love the car, love the build and the WIP. Wish I had bought the kit when Lance issued it.

Looks good with the painted pieces and suspension hung. My son did ask "where are the wheels on that racey car?" but I assured him that you would put them on soon Jordan

Well its done! It came out fine...it could have been worse but those problems got some lucky saves. I had some dumb mistakes I did. They all dont go smoothly - I think if I had to do all over I would make sure I payed 100% full attention to it all at once....I think skipping around doing other things hurt me on this build. I kinda made the windscreen rough. I over did it on the windscreen glue. I'm happy enough. This is actually the 6th Indy 500 winner build for this year....in another thread I said 4 but I forgot I finished the 2012 Winner in early Jan. 1952 1957 1963 1967 2012 2013

The Coyote is a nice looking car and I cannot see the issues you have with it. I think it is rather nice!!

I cannot see the issues you have with it. Good! Its amazing how I dont seem to take clear pics when there are problems! Someday I'll get around to making a proper photo booth just like Michael P. told what to do.....but I still continue to take pics under bad lighting!
