P. Depailler. Tyrrell 008 Sweden 1978

I finished another 1/20 Formula one car. I really wanted a Tyrrell 008 but as there isn't a plastic kit of it I had to settle for the Studio 27 Multi media kit.


I used the front wings from the Monaco version and the radiators on the top of the side pods from the Austrian version to build the Swedish GP car.


I made new front wing end plates and built new side skirts.


The front wheels were to big so I bought a set of MFH slicks for it and used the front rims of the Lotus 79 from MFH.


I must have missed when cleaning the resin body because the masking tape tore of the paint so I had to strip it and repaint it


But in the end it turned out OK. I like the look of this car. More of this will come on my home page.

Very nice. I like seeing Depailler getting some recognition on any car. Very few people build his P34, yet he was the driver who really believed in it.

I like it. A very nice build and it is nice to know the numerous tweaks you gave it to replicate a specific grand prix.

I remember getting a similar looking motorized Tyrell as a kid and playing with it at my great grandmother's house - good memories! Thanks for the trip down memory lane

Excellent job. The 008 is a funny looking beastie with the high cockpit surround, but the different and the weird are the cars I love the most. I have two 1/28 008s...

and plan a cut and slice WIP in the future. Thanks to your good photos that is now a bit easier.
Michael, you are right about Depailler...

this is my 1/24 HK toy conversion still awaiting front tires. He has a great first name, too!

Is that 008 one of those 1/28 Entex kits? If so, thats a heck of a nice conversion. I have a few of these also.

BTW …. I also have a copy of the 1/24 Mauri Tyrrell 007 (and the M23). I have been following Calvins thread on the M23. It may get me motivated to try an upgrade of the Tyrrell 007.
