Not so long ago some guys invented the 'black chrome' which is a chroming technique using chemicaly modified chrome to get a deep black tone, while mantaining the glossiness and reflectivity of classic chrome. The lads at Bare Metal Foil have recreated this effect in one of their famous adhesive sheets, and of course SpotModel was not going to miss it Some more interesting things for this week, such as some discontinued kits of the Porsche 935 in 1/20 scale from Tamiya, a couple of MFH books about 1977 Grands Prix (Grand Prices?   Holidays !! From time to time, but only from time to time, besides all those kits you need to feel in your own body the wind messing your hair and that incredible sensation of freedom when you get to ride your own beauty in 1:1 scale. No rush, no fuss, just enjoying the ride. For that and some other reasons, we're going on holidays from August 9th until 29th, to enjoy riding wherever the sun takes us... Does that mean that we're not going to build any kits on holidays? No way!!   Curves, curves, curves... There are racetracks with hard curves, those that you can NOT forget: the 130R corner at Suzuka, the Parabolic corner at Monza, L'Eau Rouge at SPA, the Turn Eight corner at Estambul, Mirabeua corner at Monaco, Stoner corner at Phillip Island, the arrabiata corners at Mugello, Laguna Seca's corkscrew...   In their flying machines......rode those magnificent men. Yes, those crazy car racing heroes took 4500 cubic centimetres supercharged to reach 240 horsepower, added just some drum brakes to try to stop them and leaf springs to put them on the ground, and fought their epic battles at the 24 hours of Le Mans. And on top of that, they finished the races. And some of them even won. And their cars were GORGEOUS The Heller kit of the Bentley 4.5L Blower comes to SpotModel, a kit older than dirt, but once you open it big surprises arise: yes, it's old (almost as old as the actual car) and resembles the old school kits, but this one looks really great. REAAAAAAALLY really great.   Big and cool!A few years ago I met in person one of the McLaren F1 GTR that raced at La Sarthe, and... my god THAT is a true sports car! Is big, huge better said, and veeeeery very cool: awesome rims, very very low front spoiler, aggressive, and the colour... what a colour!!! The guys at Fujimi have made it on 1/24 scale, a kit also very big and very cool just like the Lamborghini race cars from Aoshima that have just arrived to our warehouse And since we're talking about big and cool things, this week we also have another two big and cool kits, a new Ferrari GTO and the Porsche 917 both in 1/12 scale (that is, VERY big!) from Model Factory Hiro (that is, VERY cool!), to tag along the 1/12 models we introduced you last weeks. Tabu has released new and freshly printed decals for the Tamiya Lotus 107 kit, at the same time that Studio27 has reedited in a limited edition the carbon fiber decals for the MP4/4. Ok, they're not really big, but... what about cool? A lot!!   Stickers...To race, to drive, to win: three verbs with lots of charm that we all love. But you need lots of stickers to use them in the real world Without the sponsors stickers, there would be no races, pilots couldn't drive, and races couldn't be won. Pilots and race cars are covered with stickers and logos that we all certainly like, and thanks to them drivers drive, race cars race, and trophys are won. So, don't be lazy and put on your MP4/7 ALL the sponsor decals it wears. Yes, those not included in the Tamiya box. Or just refresh those sponsor logos on the 312T, 312T3, Lotus 107C and Lotus 102B with the new Tabu decals. Nowadays, the racing circus is filled with state-of-the-art technology, making it more expensive every day, and only strong sponsors take the adventure of financing the teams. In the last few years, the Bull team have achieved great results with their beautiful RB10, now recreated by Tameo in 1/43 scale. And for deserts, take a walk by those Model Factory Hiro kits in 1/12, 1/20 and 1/43 scales. You like them, don't you? Yes, their not cheap, but with Christmas just around the corner it's not quite complicated to find "sponsors" like the one in the picture these days, right? Why don't you stick one to your shelf?   Risk is addictive......words pronounced by Carlos Checa, but we can perfectly imagine them on every championship pilot's lips. Carlos Checa took his risks going back to Yamaha in 2006, and now Reji Models releases a reedition of the decals and transkit to build Checa's Yamaha with Tamiya kit as a base. For perfect results, also use the Zero Paints set for exact colors Do you prefer not taking any risks with a circuit bike? Ok, Hobby Design superdetailing set for the Ducati Panigale have just come to light, with a good pile of resins and photoetches only for true junkies.   Turn off your mind...Feel the sound of the boxer engine, that unique side vibes that sways your body, the metallic hum of the chromed exhausts, the flow of the air cooling the pistons... It's a classic, and everybody loves it, don't you?   Rocket (noun.)A rocket is officially defined as " the kind of car that, in addition to having several exhaust pipes, puts your hair standing on end even when you see it from afar", and today we're going to put your hair standing on end with a few of them First, the Ferrari 458 LB Works Performance, a true rocket that you can now recreate using Hobby Design transkit on top of the Fujimi Kit. More rockets to follow up: BMW M1 Group A with the France map decoration racing at Le Mans 1980, with its spiky lines, a enormous spoiler, and an engine sound that scares you from its beauty. The decals are a Studio27 reedition for Revell kit, in a limited edition. Next, a Spanish rocket, and a classic one: the Pegaso Z-102 Spider that started to put hairs standing back on 1950. Drop dead gorgeous, featuring a fully detailed engine, and three different decorations. Be careful, last units available. And for deserts, the classic rocket, the one you must have on the shelf: the Porsche 911 SC Group 4 from Arena, now with two new decorations from the Mile Miglia and Montecarlo.
