Wow! I never heard of this! Interesting to say the least. He did finish 4th in the second heat so it must have worked pretty well.

The turbo Buick makes me think this is the Buick Indy engine as the PC18s and PC19s showed up at Indy as customer cars occasionally with Buick power. Except for Patrick Racing & Emerson Fittipaldi in 1989, customer Penske's were year old cars. In the case of Penske Buicks, they were always year old cars. This one could have been one of the cars at Indy in 1990 (since the PC18 was the Penske primary car in '89) that was bought and converted to this fendered CanAm/LeMans-ish car. Jordan

Guys
This was a round of the European Interseries Championship. The rules required fenders over the wheels, so you had Indy Cars, Formula 1 and Formula 2 against Porsche 956 and 962.
The series still exists, run exclusively in Germany for Porsche Cayman's. A lot more economic to run in, but not as much fun.
