Its done! It was fun every bit of the way! Just took 6 days to complete. That's the thing about an Etzel kit...It builds itself. One more Indy 500 winner down for 2013! 7 down 3 to go to meet my goal of 10 for the year!

Just a great build. Thanks for the research on the color. One reason I have not built mine is I could not figure that out. I admire you building goals. I take too long on each one. Floyd Roberts '38 winner was been on my desk for months. Sometimes I get hung up on getting things just right. If I can't figure it out, then time goes on. I sometimes try to build more than one at a time but it is hard to keep going back and forth. So much for me. This is just great. Good for you!! Jim

Great build, but I'm not sure about the shade of the blue/green. I think it should be more blue. Or maybe green.
I'm just messing with you. I don't know how you guys can figure out these paint shades. In every picture of the car in this thread, it looks like a different shade to me. I saw the car in the museum, but I can't remember paint shades to that level of detail.
Really nice build Calvin. You inspire the rest of us. From you I learned to try do something every day, even if it's just five minutes, which usually turn into thirty.

In my case it's based on my memory of seeing the car in person. I remember thinking it was cool to see teal on a car - it was a color you never really saw.

Soooo. Are those Indycals or Etzel's decals? Does that mean you have the 99 decals still laying around for something? Regardless, it came out awesome of course. I'm hoping Michael does the decals for the 99 winner someday. Mine just look ok.

Great build! But shouldn't there be "#1" markings behind Good Year on the rear tires?

But shouldn't there be "#1" markings behind Good Year on the rear tires? Yeah, but I'm not going to worry about it - I didn't have any #1's at the time did the tires up.....I clear coat over my decals to get rid of the that "decal look"

Just read through the 3 pages of this, what an interesting thread and in the end, a great looking model! Man, 10 winners in a year, I am lucky to do one in 10 years! OK, you guys do inspire me to get building! Funny thing is I have been to 2 Indy 500's in my life and one of them was when Eddie Cheever won in this car. Like Michael mentioned, was unique to see this color on a car, I thought it looked nice, you really captured the look of the car quite well!
