Well, I finally found a spray can that I was happy with! I feel its the best one to use. Now since I went out and spent a whole lot of money on trying various cans of paint to figure out the best one for this car. I feel like if you want to know you need to $ pay $ yours truly to find out what brand and name of paint I used.

I agree that Eddie's car in the museum is most likely a restoration. This generation chassis was used through the end of 1999 but Rachel's did not sponsor Eddie after the first race of '99. So, the few few cars in his fleet would most likely have all been repainted. Sadly, restorations are hit and miss - we use them when we have to but it is best to rely on race day photos and videos.
An authorized repop of the Etzel Dallara would be welcomed in my book. I'd be in for at least one.

Looks very nice. I am saving my money so I can find out what the mystery color is, no doubt it has to be very expensive! I might just have to make payments.

They are fantastic kits, long out of production. They show up on Ebay now and then, and go for big money.

Cheever started the month of May with almost no real sponsorship. Rachel's came on board for a pittance. They were tied to Menard's and agreed to provide this sponsorship in exchange for prominent display at Menard's stores, a common practice begun by NHR in the 90s with K-Mart and copied by TCGR and Target. Of course, Eddie won the race and Rachel's disappeared into the sunset with an Indy 500 win, retiring undefeated!

I remember buying the chips at Menards, they were quite good, as I recall. What was interesting that the vendor listed on the packing boxes was "cheever enterprises". I guess that as part of the deal Eddie was in the potato chip business. Take Care Craig

Looking very nice. it will not win the 500 like that. Tires are an essential. Just kidding I know it all comes together. Very nice job on this one the paint looks great and the model very clean and shinny. Great job on a great Indy winner. I always liked Cheever.

Chris Etzel's kit masters and patterns and all other assets(excluding the Watson roadster, which Lance Sellers owns) including the rights to the names "Etzel Speed Classics" and "Medallion Models" have been legally purchased by American Racing Miniatures. The kits will be slowly re-released beginning in 2014. More information will be available in the not too distant future.

^^^ That's all I was really getting at with my post about making more 98/99/00 chassis. I know I've bid on some Etzel models to be outbid by someone else on the forum. Another dozen or so of each would go a long way, and if Chris is out of the business, then... Good to hear someone is making more of these from the original masters Race day in 1998 felt like a dream. Having met Eddie in '92 and becoming a lifelong fan, to the low of scraping into the '93 race, DNF'ing in turn 1 of '95 to the possible benefit of poor Stan, and squandering the fastest car in '96. Eddie almost DNF'ed on turn 1 again to start the day, then #51 marched from the back to the front, drove right through the middle of the lap 49 pileup, almost Lloyd Ruby'd a pitstop, and then fended off Buddy, trying to scare the walls as Eddie routinely could when the occasion called for it, and sealing the deal. When it's your day it's your day, and Eddie was not going to be denied on May 24, 1998.

Thanks for the great news, Tom. I have several of Chris' kits that I have been unwilling to build so I have either done without or tried to work around them. I, along with many others, will become anything approaching what he did. That is a great Christmas present. Jim

Just when you think it can't get any better. I could be wrong, but I think this forum has had something to do with the renewed interest in these kits.
