Kook Green paint order placed with MCW paints, and I'm starting work on this with Kevin's BEAUTIFUL Honda engine. I can't get over the detail on this little gem! Like Calvin, I opened up the radiator exits - I think it looks so much better. Not really modeling this after any specific race, but it will be RC configuration. I am going to attach the tub to the under tray and clean up the seams. The seat will fit in nicely through the bulkhead area, so I can pretty much finish it off without the seat in place.

Awesome! I love WIP's! It will be fun watching you build this one up. Especially with that nice resin engine!

The engine is fantastic. The down side is it makes the rear shocks look bad

Looks beautiful in white just sitting there. How did you do the sidepod exits? They look fantastic! Also, it looks like you cut the lower A arm up front off horizontally and not vertical like before - can't wait to see how that works out for you!

I'm doing this one a little differently. The first thing I did was to paint all the carbon black areas. I figure it's easier to touch up flat black than body color. I then put the tub together and sealed the seam at the bottom (you know those always drive me nuts and must be sealed). With the engine cover removed the finished cockpit will slip into the tub quite easily - thus I can have everything painted and finished before inserting the cockpit. In this photo the black is all masked off and another coat of primer has been applied - still need to do some sanding particularly where the nose meets the tub (the nose is not glued on). I should have the MCW green paint soon.

I got the MCW "Kool" paint and it's 'OK'. It's very close to Testors Gloss Green - same brightness/darkness but the hue is shifted ever so slightly toward blue. On the plus side it is a good match for my decals, but I think it should be a brighter green. Still the best I've come across for this car, but that bar was set very low to begin with.

I know I asked you, but I cant remeber...you got in a rattle can?

Yes and OMG, do NOT get the rattle can - it is awful! IT goes on in huge blobs. I'm going to have to decant and airbrush.... and I hate airbrushing.

Oh yuck! Sounds like an old can?....unless they make it new on the spot and just didn't get the right amount of propellant in the can....

There's plenty of propellant, but yeah, it sprays like there's not much left.

Oh yeah, I really like this one!! Sorry to hear about the paint, Michael, but you might want to let MCW know about it and give him a chance to fix it.

I take back what I said about the paint being the 'best' for the KOOL cars. In retrospect it has the same issues as other paints - too dark, wrong hue. I haven't decided what I'm going to do.

I contacted Dave at MCW and he seemed to think it was a defective nozzle or can. He offered to replace it but I decided to go ahead and just decant the paint. As much as I dislike airbrushing it isn't so bad as to return the can when I have the paint I need in it. BTW, if anyone is looking for a business opportunity, the paint side of MCW is for sale at a reasonable price. I would have considered it but a workspace not attached to a house is needed and I can't accommodate that. Got some work done on the engine. The detail on these little gems is unbelievable.

WOW that looks amazing! Great paint work on that tiny engine! Idk who you guys can be so detailed on such small parts! A good magnifying glass and a good spotting brush. I actually just picked up the magnifying glass last summer and it's amazing how precise you can get with such fine detail call-outs.

That is just fantastic!! Oh my that looks fantastic. If you haven't said you had painted it, I'd have thought that was decal because it is soooo sharp! Ed really wanted to do a great things with open wheel kits at Revell US, I'm sad that it could not keep going.

Green has been applied. Not real happy with the color, but it's no worse than any other alternative out there.

Looks good Michael. I wonder if I can get my buddy JC to get me the paint codes from these bad boys...he was chief mechanic for TKG through Michael's last Indy 500.
