Have any of you ever desiged/built a phantom Indy Car? Something that might have been?
For example, let's say that rear engine cars were banned after the success of Lotus, what would a current front motor Indy car look like?
I am starting a Lotus Offy, not a real car but one that could have run in the 500 during the 60's. It lets you become the designer and try out some of your own ideas.
Any thoughts?

Nope, never did a phantom Indy. Many years ago, I started to build a F-5000 from an old IMC Lotus 38, had a nice injected small block for it but never finished it. It's still in a box somewhere in my stash. I don't build many phantoms of any type of racecar anymore, too many historical subjects to replicate!

Cool idea and a nice change of pace project!

I have been thinking of doing one of these. I'm planning on blending a Lola T8800 with a turbine engine. I've always wondered what would have happened if the Paxton Turbine had actually won the Indy 500 and the turbine engine had become the accepted power plant for indy cars. If that had happened, what would a ground effects, turbine car look like.

I have thought of doing this idea of my own racing team, D Squared Racing Enterprises in either a red, white & blue color scheme or Coyote Orange and white pearl.

I have a few Greenlight Dallaras to do phantom paint schemes like my championship ride in an online sim league.... was kind of cool - a P-51 paint scheme ;D
