I finished this car a few weeks ago and just got around to putting it online. This car is a 1/25 scale Fujimi Ferrari built box stock with kit decals and photo-etch parts. I did paint on the blue rings for the Goodyear tires (which I can advise for anyone who'll try it is to use acrylic French Blue paint and have a lot of patience!!!) but that was the only thing I added. The car is painted Tamiya Italian red. This car, piloted by Pedro Rodriguez and Jean Guichet finished third and was a part of a famous three abreast finish as Ferrari avenged its humiliation by the Ford GT-40s from a year before. This revenge was temporary, however, as Ford returned to its dominance the rest of the season. This era was a dynamic one in endurance racing, this was the weapon of choice for the men who drove for "The Pope of the North." (Enzo Ferrari) I have a GT-40 to build as a counter to this car. I hope to do it shortly, I absolutely love these sports car models!

For years, I raced online with a group PC sim-racing and they ran a set of cars that was the 330 P4, GT40, Lola T70, and Porsche 910. So this is a car with a special place in my heart even though it was well before my time.
You did very nice work on it! Display it with pride and can't wait to see the GT40 to go with it.

Redlegs, Bella, bella! You did a great job on my 4th favorite Ferrari. Please allow me to be a bit anal:D. I can't tell if you have red outlined numbers and you don't have the P3/4 (412P) indicator...the windshield wiper bulge! Also, notice the wheel color;I think they are light blue in color and not the 5 spoke but the slotted P3 type...oh, and the mirrors... and as restored at the Ferrari Museum 2013... Really, though I do like the work you did. I've just studied these cars for so long now and I finally get to use my acquired knowledge. I do have something for you! Notice in the corner of the window a small sticker...its the Tech sticker! I have a decal for you...PM me so I can send it to you... Interestingly enough, I believe the #24 had green outlines around its numbers! I'm searching for a color photo of the car. Again, please don't be upset;I get a little fired up with some cars. Patrick

If built "Box Stock" the kit must have the wrong wheels? Just curious if it has the optional wheels in the kit. Anyone know? If not, is there a source for the correct wheels?
Love the build! Nice work!

The kit is meant to be a 330 P4 and not the P3/4 or 412P. It has the engine cover for the fuel injectors in the bank of the heads and not the injection between the banks as the 412P had. This is an interesting shot of the numbers and the Tech decal...notice there doesn't seem to be a red outline! As to the wheels...Exotic Miniatures made a set, but they are now defunct, alas. Now as to the numbers...I wish someone could make a set of red outlined numbers for the Daytona race. Patrick

I have heard that using a gel pen to make the Blue Streak stripe works well. I'm too chicken to try it tho.

Thank you everyone for the compliments first off!
Secondly, thank you for the information on this car Patrick! It wasn't the easiest thing to find research photos of this car and I appreciate the information and the photos, also I'll be sending you a PM shortly. I am glad your shared this information, that is what makes sites like this so great is the friendly folks who're willing to share their knowledge and time to help out a fellow modeler.
Unfortunately the wheels offered on the kit were the only ones to go with, I tried to find some aftermarket wheels but I chalked up a zilch in that regard. I am going to keep an eye out and if I ever find any that are more accurate I'll be sure to buy them as I wasn't satisfied by what was offered in terms of accuracy.
This car was a fun build and if I can pick up another, one of the LeMans P4s for a good price I will build that too.

yes, yes, it looks great!, I too just love the classic Ferrari sports racers. I built a 512S a few months ago from an old Union kit. I have a Dino and a 330 P4 still to build.
GOOD JOB MY FRIEND!

Beautiful build of probably the most beautiful sports racer of all time.
Man, I have such fond memories of that era. I was (and remain) a Ford guy, even as a kid, as they went to Indy, Le Mans, and finally F1 with the DFV. Plus, my mom bought Fords. So I loved the Mk II and VI Ford GTs, but the P3 & P4 were SO much more beautiful, I was secretly happy with the Daytona results.
Stick a Grand-Am DP next to this car and try not to laugh.

The P3 wheels are "similar" to the rear wheels on the AMT Lotus 29. Not exact mind you, but close. I wouldn't bother to change your model, but just something to put in your memory banks.

Very sweet looking Ferrari! I loved that whole era of racing. So many good races in all series back then. Your build looks positively awesome. I am looking forward to the GT40, a favorite of mine.

Even though this thread was from 2013 I found some great info. It's May 12 2020 This is the middle of the raging "P" Pandemic and I am spending money like a Sailor (I am one) on eBay. In addition to all I got last week, picked up a Monogram Cobra Super Coupe slot and a WIX 427 Cobra yesterday to mount it on (Super Coupe is right hand drive, need a Weber manifold),a Monogram Ferrari 330 P2 Daytona, trying to get a P-3 Spyder today . Found out there are TWO P3 I know of, I thought Lancer was the only one. The ones on eBay are supposed to be a Monogram and I think the other is a Classic. Are there at least three P3's (NOT P4s)? Two guys selling hard bodied P-2s but they want big bucks, think I'll pass for now. Saving all kinds of Ferrari, Cobra and Grand Sport bookmarks.

if you order from Hobby Search, choose DHL shipping as its freaky fast 2 to 4 days...its approximately $30ish but its worth it compared to being thrown on a boat and waiting 6 months. (Regarlar Japanese Air mail is currently suspended to the USA because of Covid-19)
Just be sure to be home when the undercover DHL van shows up, because you'll have to sign for it.

Yep, I just bought one and a Nunu Audi R8 from Hobby Search - with DHL shipping it was $96 for both kits - quite reasonable, and as Calvin said - 2-4 day.
