I just tripped over a really interesting model kit I've never seen before. It's a Western Models Lotus 79 John Player Special in 1/24 scale.
The kit is white metal, fairly simple, and looks pretty good. I've been looking for some photos of the actual car, and those I've found lead me to believe that the kit is pretty accurate.
There's no copyright date, so I don't know when this was produced. Anyone know any more about it?

Here's a shot of the bodywork and wheels. It's all metal except for the tires. Terry

This would be Mario's world championship car for 1978. Also could be built for Ronnie Peterson, who joined Team lotus after Gunnar Nillson was diagnosed with, and later died of cancer. I couldn't find a production year either, but know this company only made 2 other F1 kits, a Maserati 250 F and a Williams FW07 ( 1979) Looking forward to your build. Tom T.

Hi, Never heard of this one. This model is really wild. I have some metal 1/43 land speed record models by a company called Western Models. I think they're from England. Wonder if its the same company. Sandy

Hey everyone!
I've heard of this kit before although didnt't own this one. At one time I had their Maserati 250F and Mercedes Benz W125 both in white metal and 1/24 scale. They were nice looking kits. Never did build them and both of them went one of the several times I sold my entire kit collection and said never again! They are very rare now and wish I had kept them along with the 1/43 Novi kit they made which I had as well. I believe they were produced in the late 1970's or early 1980's.
