My name is Bill Hasselle. I have been hoping for a modeling/history forum for open wheel cars for some time now, and I am pleased to have been steered in this direction. Many thanks to Bill Little (Ancient Modeler) for the info. I am in the twilight of a 35 year career driving dirt latemodels. I have had some success but I've lost a heck of a lot more than I've won. I grew up around racing in the 60's admiring Indy and sprint drivers primarily. Bob Marshman, Jim Hurtubise and Jan Opperman were my heroes. My most prized possession is Opperman's first helmet worn originally in his motorcycle days and then in midgets when he first got on 4 wheels. I build almost nothing due to my limited spare time due to racing and maintaining 1:1 race cars. I am a rabid collector of kits, decals and reference/knowledge however! I am setting myself up for when the day comes that I hang up the wheel so to speak. I have learned over the years that if you want something that someone has crafted obtain it NOW!!! You never know when the opportunity to own it will suddenly end. Chris Etzel and Fred Cady come to mind here. I look forward to joining your informative and intelligent discussions as time permits. Bill H
