Occaisionally I see one of these 1/16 scale kits on E Bay. Are they any good? I think I've only seen two. Mario's 67 car and a Jackie Stewart car from the same year I believe. Thanks.

They are decent body-wise, decals are probably unusable and not too accurate, suspensions and engines are simplified and motorized, tires are not great. If you can get one for a reasonable price and are willing to put some work into it, i think they can be made to look pretty good. I had them all at one time but have since sold them, unfortunatley before they were so expensive!

Maybe I can answer his one...having built one once.....ONCE!
Frankly...the kits suck!!!! They are only good as a starting point, but they're worth is only to a kit collector interested in Indy Race Cars. UPC did a Watson Roadster that is worthless.....The AMT kit is far more accurate and easier to build. They're only worth is a collection piece, if that what you're into. In that case....the Old Best/Aurora kits are more valuable...and shudder to say, more accurate.
The Brawner Hawk and the Jackie Stewart Lola are basically the same kit. I had one each in my collection and sold both away to get something better. If you are only looking for a collectable... Bandi did a HUGE 1967 Paxton Turbine that was a much better kit...and you could make the motor work and it could run across the floor...which was cool for 8 year old, and now that kit is worth it's weight in gold.
But the "Hawk and Mecom "Lola" are wrothless... Bad plastic and poor accuracy are what they are known for. If you want a beautiful kit of the Brawner Hawk...Lance Sellers did one and it's great!
Best to you

I've seen Lance's Hawk and tried to shame him into reissuing it. It didn't work. If he ever does reissue it, I'm all over it. Thanks for the input on the UPC kits. I had one as a much younger person but it disappeared with most of my baseball cards before I could build it. Mmmm. . . I wonder what ever happened to all that stuff?
