Hasegawa 1/20 converted to the prototype 79/1 that was used by Hector Rebaque in 1979. To make the prototype I had to convert the front of the cockpit. Just to make things harder I decided to build it from the Belgium GP. The body was the same as the kit in the first races but later changed to the 1979 style. So I took the air outlets in the side pods and the rear mirrors from the Tamiya Martini-Lotus and grafted them to the Hasegawa kit. I also had to make some louvres for the rear of the side pods as well. Normally the Lotus 79 has the rear roll bars dressed in with a plate that runs all the way round the bars but not at Belgium. The roll bars were visible at the top so I had to simulate this. I painted it with Humbrol enamels and used decals from Tabu

Wonderful job on what at first looked like a decal conversion only. Your research paid off in a great example.
