As many of you know I've been working with Calvin and Lance to produce a conversion kit for the 1963 AMT Lotus 29 that will include new resin tires, new, more accurate nose, vac-u-form windscreen and all new decals for Dan Gurney or Jim Clark. For the Clark decals, I am having all the yellow silk-screen printed to match Tamiya TS16 yellow - this is a much richer and more accurate yellow than I can hit with my printer. This means you can use the decals to stripe the car, or you can paint the stripe (which I always recommend), and apply the rest of the yellow decals that will match the paint. Both sheets have upgraded contingency markings as both cars ran "Pure Firebird Gasoline" on the side of the car - markings that to my knowledge have never been on any Lotus 29 sheet. The Clark sheet will also have a yellow #6 for those who might want to do a 1964 Clark car. Now, all this prep has required some investment on my part - particularly the decals. So to help fund all the items I am purchasing, I am looking to raise a bit of capital ahead of the planned release which should be no later than mid October if all goes according to plan. The kit will be $38.00 plus shipping. I am going to make available six kits for $35.00, free shipping (US only), full payment in advance. Email me at michael at indycals dot net if you are interested. I am not going to limit the quantity per person - so if the first person to email me wants all six, they will get all six. Or if five have been claimed and your email is next in line and you want two, I will only have one available. First come first served based on email time stamp. Do not send payment! I will invoice you once I determine who gets what. Here is what will be on the new decal sheets (the Jim Clark sheet will have separate white underlay decals for the pinstripe and LPBF type). The Clark sheet will come in two parts with yellow markings will be on a sheet by themselves. And here is the Gurney car with the complete upgrade kit The Gurney car has the stripe painted on (TS15). A masking template will be available for download from my website.

Also real glad I never sold any of the 3 Hall of Fame kits I have. I plan on building them, but thanks to Mike and Calvin for making the value rise so much. :-) Next will be full kits, with Michael's 3D parts, fixing the McLaren problems and, please oh please, new tires. Just a thought. Thanks guys! MJ

obviously this is great news as the 29 moves up my to-build list, I'm wondering the engine appears dimensionally to be too short I can make something that looks correct - cam covers etc but any thoughts on how to fit a longer engine into the chassis without compromising wheelbase or transmission? And it's time to start thinking about a conversion kit for the Lotus 34!

Trying to put something bigger in will be taking a bad situation and making it much worse IMO.

okay think I know what's wrong the cyl heads and valve covers are about .060 too short the kit engine block is close to right don't know why this was done - so as not to crowd the distributor ? this won't be too hard to correct
does the kit, as built, have the correct wheelbase?
