This is my latest completion, Graham Hill's Rob Walker Lotus 72C as driven in the US and Mexican GPs. I built this from the Ebbro kit and it is essentially box stock, with the exception of adding spark plug wires. It went together with really no problems and it is a beauty of a kit, I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to build a quality vintage F1 kit. What is there that I can say about Graham Hill that hasn't already been said. He was a two-time World Driving Champion (1962, 1968), 1966 Indianapolis 500 winner, winner of the 1972 24 Hours of LeMans and a five-time winner of the Monaco GP. He was one of the finest and in this builder's opinions, most underrated drivers of that era. He is also one of my all-time favorites. This Lotus would be the last car fielded by the privateer Rob Walker (heir to the Johnny Walker Whisky fortune). It was a frustrating year, with the team running the 49C most of the season. The 72C provided to Walker was supposed to make its debut at the Italian Grand Prix, but that was not to be as it was withdrawn along with the other Lotus cars in the wake of the death of Jochen Rindt. The car finished 13 laps off the pace at Mt. Tremblant (Canadian GP), and failed to finish the US and Mexican GPs. It was a frustrating time for Hill and the Walker team.

Great looking build! I always enjoyed reading Rob Walker's "race reports" in Road & Track during the 1970's. I agree about Hill, he was better than most give him credit for. Sad, yet somehow appropriate that he was killed in a plane crash, the stories of flying "Hill-Airius" airlines were very entertaining!

This is a great build. I share your thoughts about Hill, really underrated. Your Telefonica build is great also. Looks like you really nailed the color.

Privateers! Rob Walker's team was the epitome of the privateer group...always first rate! Excellent job representing the car.
