This is a very old conversion back in the late 70's. It somehow survived my divorce and I finally decided to re-do it while building the McRae... the surviving parts included plus a few suspension pieces... I've scrounged many suspension parts and used Michael's excellent decals (my photos do show a difference in the black areas of the paint scheme as opposed to the restored car),thanks Michael for paying attention to the F5000 cars!... I had to scratch up a new front suspension... and I used solder for my exhaust headers... More to follow as I encourage the parts to fit together! Patrick

The before was fabulous! The resto is coming along nicely and the decals look like a real upgrade. Love to see you build.

Workin' at it! The re-built front suspension. I wasn't sure how it looked so I Googled MPC Eagle Plans and came up with a copy! The internet's crazy ain't it? Patrick

You look at an ugly duckling of a toy and see the swan. Can't believe I missed this thread. I LOVE F5000. You have inspired me - I'm ordering the Cannon!Hogan Star decals from Michael tomorrow and put his tires on back-order. Love it! MJ

I really would like to see a Canon Eagle done! I just re-ordered the decal sheet as my greezy hands messed them up and stopped the project, but thanks for the complements.

We just need new side panels, a Chevy, and maybe some 1/25 scale downdrafts!

Finding "real" downdrafts can be difficult. Some people seem to think side drafts are the same thing...not! Smbrm unsure what you mean by new side panels. I have some used spares if you mean the monocoque body sides.

Patrick
The F5000 Eagle mkv was narrower than the Indy car MkIV as the F5000 had a lower fuel capacity. The sides of the monocoque were much less bulged than the indycar version and had a different profile. The F5000 did not have the double fuel fillers. So that's what meant by side panels.

Patrick I should have also mentioned that I really like your build! Looks like a pic I have found of the car at Laguna. Anything F5000 is cool and you have done your usual excellent build quality.
Cheers

What about Fujimi GT40 tires? The rears would need to be widened. The other option might be Hiro tires.

I finally got around to ordering tires from Michael and also received the Blue Streak decals with them. I wasn't sure how well I could do the decals, but BOY, I'mI glad for the product Indycals turns out! They look spanking! after oggling over my tires and rims, I re-fit the exhaust pipes... and epoxied the wing braces onto the rear suspension hubs and epoxy the front wings into place... nearly ready for final assembly... It looks fabulous! The rims and tires are sharp plus the rest of the build is coming along nicely Also, even though this thread started way before the F5000 section was created, I moved this thread to there - where it belongs. Jordan

I got some decals on Evilbay that included "Hewland" and they look very nice on Rasputin's resin transaxle... tomorrow the rollbar and that's it for Tony's Eagle. Patrick

I have some used spares if you mean the monocoque body sides. Patrick Well one year later I finally found the source of "real downdraft" Webers! I am patient if nothing else...the ESCI Cobra kit(I found a glue bomb at a flea market!) has excellent down drafts for its 289 engine. They will look perfect on Tony's car! Now I assume the ESCI kit is the same as the AMT Cobra, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone want to cast these? I am out of my league here and I would like a few sets for more F5000 cars. I want to do Dr. Lou Sell's or George Wintersteen's cars since Michael has the decal sets for both (I saw the first F5000 race at Laguna.). Patrick
