More progress. I can see some light at the end of the tunnel, and I hope it's not a headlight. My deadline to finish this one is the 12th, when my wife and I leave for a 2 week trip. The neat thing about self imposed deadlines is that if you don't make it, nobody cares. Take Care Craig

Craig, that is really sweet. Makes me kinda wish I'd bought more than one of those kits.

Wow, its been a long journey- resin, snakes, cats, and alien bugs from 'Starship Troopers', but well worth it. Great model of a beautiful car.

Really nice job. I have one of these kits done as a Clark winner that is a duplicate. I now know what I need to do thanks to your great inspiration. Thanks for sharing. Jim

Calling it done. Lance Sellers kit (modified) Tamiya Racing White GWS Decals I broke my own rule on the clearcoat, it's Testors Wet Look and it worked just fine. Although not part of the factory team in 1965, Dan showed up at Indy with a Lotus 38. Either as a reward from Ford for his service or hedging their bet because he would be using Goodyear tires. Dan started outside the front row and was running in third place, behind Clark and Foyt until- Ford had 17 engines in the 65 race, and due to the very suspect abilities of some of the teams ( one Ford engineer said "some of these guys could not maintain a lawnmower) and the excessive use of Nitromethane in qualifying, including a well known driver from Texas, a decision was made to take all the engines back to Dearborn to be rebuilt before the race. In the rush, one engine was assembled with timing gears that had not been heat treated. Guess who got that engine. Since I started this thread with a photo of Moses, I will finish with our 2 dogs, Nutmeg and Tess, AKA Lightning and Flash. Take Care Craig

The car is fabulous. I've heard of the nitro use. I wish someone would write a book about all the behind the scene stuff that's happened at Indy, not to expose anyone to ridicule, but just because that stuff is so interesting. I've also heard a certain driver from Texas used a creative tire combination on his last pit stop in 77. Sorry to go a little off topic, again, the car is really special.

Craig, I'm not questioning your decision, I'm just curious. What made you go racing white instead of a pure white. I'm working on a Chaparral 2E and I'm told racing white is the correct color for Chaparrals. I found that interesting, I'd always assumed the Chaparrals were pure white.

John, I don't know if the color is correct. The race day photos I got from the IMS photo shop seem to show more of an "off white" color, and since Dan was so closely associated with Ford, at the time, I thought he might use the Ford Wimbleton White, which is a slightly offwhite. As I said, I really don't know. I do think that the 70's eagles were "pure white" however. Take Care Craig

I'm told racing white is the correct color for Chaparrals. That's news to me. They have always looked white as can be to me.

As for the Chaparral color, I am pretty sure you can email the Petroleum Museum in Midland, TX and they can tell you the color of the Chaparrals. www.petroleummuseum.org/ This is where all Jim's Can-Am and LeMans cars are located. His Museum I reckon.
