Hi Guys I finished up the air box and engine cover. I still need to add a few panel lines and rivets. Then she is ready for rubber. By the way, is anyone going to the collectors’ toy fair in Toledo, OH next weekend? Let me know. Thanks Kevin K.

Kevin, To me (and this could be due to the photo) the cockpit surround just below the front part of the windscreen seems a bit flattened. The area where the windscreen attaches does look correctly rounded, however, and therefore it is perhaps just the photo. Thanks for doing such a fine job on this neglected racer. You did it proud.

After scouring the internet for aftermarket headers, I found there really isn't any for this application. So I had to tough it out and build my own but at least they are correct. I made them from hollow aluminum tubing with a plastic collector. I will be offering these for anyone who had purchased the Chevy engine kit. It will be done in white metal. As far as the chassis/engine cover, it would have been done last week if I didn't ***** up the mold by not using mold release almost to embarrassing to talk about. I should have the body cast and molded by tomorrow morning...should key word here. I will be sending it out to Indycals so he can start sizing for decals. The first three decals I would like to get done would be the Boraxo, Interscope, and Viceroy. If you guys are interested in other cars please let me know. Thanks Kevin K.

Hi Everyone I just popped out the first finished body for the F5000 Lola and to my surprise, everything worked out fine. This is after a few major screw ups on my part over the last two weeks and yes, the engine cover will be removable. Now just to get all the masters ready for investment casting and then off to get the white metal castings. I will keep you posted. Thanks Kevin K.

Kevin, Loved the pictures. I remember now the Sinmast car, but don't remember the red on the Hogan cars. Interesting!

Hi Guys, I just finished tweaking a few things on the gear box. Hopefully now it resembles the DG 300 and not so much the Indy car version. Thanks for the persuasion to make the changes. Sprayed the car with model master Flo red, unfortunately I could not find any Tamiya at the local hobby shops. Hopefully it will completely dry soon. The bottom of the tub was finished in bare metal foil, matte aluminum. I should be receiving the decals to do the 75 Sinmast/Johncock car any day. All the parts have been shipped out for investment casting and white metal. I will keep you posted. Thanks Kevin.

I'm interested in how well this kit does. The F5000 series wasn't around very long but it seems to have had a pretty passionate following by the people that did follow it. Thanks for the update, it looks great!

Calvin, you would have loved it. Cool cars and great drivers. I still don't know why it didn't do better. I guess maybe people were to much into ovals at the time? Maybe somebody could weigh in on this.

I went to more F5000 races than any thing else. I loved the 5 liter Chevys and the open wheeled cars. I saw the first F5000 race at Laguna's 1st CanAm in 1966. You go Kevin! The engine/Hewland unit looks excellent! And, yes, Calvin, you would have loved the the races!

hi all there might be a little misunderstanding out there about the kit. I am still doing the 332 ,but bill is going to do the 330, two totally different cars! nothing has changed,he just gave me the rights to do his lighting in exchange for some help on the 330, hope this explaines things a little better. thanks kevin.k
