Noticed that Ed was again last in practice at M-O. For the love of GOD, why doesn't he get a young specialist in that car at those events? Wasted equipment at those venues with him at the controls IMO.
BTW, what in the heck has happened to Foyt? Sato was 4mph off the pace today.

He won't get any better if he has someone else drive.

And he won't get any points if he skips half of the races.

Owner's points would matter more to Ed than drivers points. A Conway/Carpenter split was mentioned earlier this year and to me it seems brilliant. Plus, Ed could learn from a very good road racer how to handle the twisties.

Ed is the only driver in Indycar who came up thru the Midget, and Sprint car ranks. His background is oval track racing. IMO the reason he stays in the series is his connection to Indy, and his great sponsor. His driving has improved greatly on the road, and street circuts, however that is only part of the deal. He is still not up to speed on car setup and race strategy. The team was showing improvement with Derek Walker, but he has moved on. It would be nice to think that there was a place for all the oval track guys other than NASCAR, but it is not going to happen. Indycar will continue to be a home for road racers, F1 wanabees, and imported buy a rides. 17 years ago a guy tried to change this situation and became the most hated man in Motorsport because of it. Let's not let this one digress boys. Hopefully Ed's working with Andretti Autosport will have RHR, Hinch, and Marco working with Ed more on how to pick up speed on street and road courses. At least Ed should have theor data so he can start to overlap it with his to start picking up more of the nuances it takes to go fast.

Not trying start anything about the split, Jordan. My point is that the other drivers have years and years of experence to draw on, and to expect Ed to match that in a few seasons is a bit much. Take all the downforce off on an oval, or better yet put all of them in a sprint car at Raceway Park, and my money is on Ed. He is trying to improve and I for one applaud his effort. Take Care Craig

He's 14th in points out of 21 that have started every race. He's even ahead of some big names that are great at road courses. Considering there are more of those than ovals I'd say he's doing pretty good.
